Help!!! LPN program at Carrington College Portland OR

Published

Hi, I have a few questions regarding LPN program at Carrington College in Portland Oregon. I would love to get advices from anyone. I thank you in advance.

1. Around how much is the cost of program?

2. Was it easy to find job after graduated?

3. Are there lot of presentations to do in class? I know some people will think I am weird to ask this question, but I have an anxiety problem that every time I stand in front of the class, I am about to faint. It is that terrible. In the past, I was able to get in RN and dental hygiene program at OHSU and PCC, but I quit because of the above reason. Lately, I am tired of dead-end jobs that I want to go back to school. However, the thought of being in front of class again is still haunting me. I am not sure if it is my anxiety problem or English is not my first language therefore I am not that confident. A friend of mine suggests that I should go to private school such as Carrington or Concorde because it is easier. Also LPN is a shorter program and perhaps I can hang in there. I know there will definitely be presentations, but I wonder if there are as many compare to community colleges.

I really want to go back to school to set a better example for my children, plus to get a better job to support them. I will really appreciate your advices. By the way, I am perfectly fine when communicate with others, just have problem in front of the crowd. thanks.

Since it's been a month since you posted, I don't know if you're still interested. But, I go to Carrington right now and I like it. It has it's goods and bads just like anywhere. We don't do very many presentations, but you should probably get used to it if you want to be a nurse. Patients and families expect you to be able to educate them and be able to ask you questions without you getting flustered and nervous. If you really want to be a nurse, just do it. Once you get through it, you'll be stronger and more confident. And just remember, most everyone gets nervous doing a presentation. Chances are, most of your classmates will feel the same as you! Most of our presentations are done in groups too, so you might do better with that.

I haven't graduated yet, but I work as a CNA and the place where I work has offered me a job after graduation because I have a good reputation there. But it is always hard to find a job as a new grad nurse, no matter where you go to school. I do know that there are Carrington grads where I work as a CNA and they are all really good nurses.

The program is $30,000. Expensive, but fast and easy to get in, so compared to waiting for years to do pre reqs and get into a CC program, it's worth it!

Hope that helps!

I finished the lpn program at Carrington and found a job within a month. I also had years of experience as CNA so I think that helped me find work. The program was 19,000 for me but I transferred In all my perquisites. The down side to Carrington is they do not have a bridge program in portland.
