Specialties Case Management

I am concerned about licensing issues. I am a FL and NC licensed RN in work comp case mgt. I am a telephonic case mgr. My concern is I am assigned other states. Do I have to be licensed in SC, KY and VA to provide case management?

I was just wondering which company that you work for?

I would check specifically with the Boards of Nursing for the states that you are covering, but I would be very surprised if you would need the aadditional licensure, as you are providing case management services and by phone, you are not doing direct patient care in a facility.

Even for flight nurses that have to go into other states, they are usually covered under their "normal" license.

I do telephone triage in a call center. We are required to have our own state license plus 5 more. Well actually, only one client of ours requires it, but as far as I know the other 4 states require it. Thay are CA, PA, NY, and MA.

But that is triage, not case management. Two different things.

Triage is offereing medical advice, case management is not.

My bad... :chair:

I've done telephonic case management for all the states. Never had to have another license other than my TN one.

Thank You Everyone For Answering My Questions. I Have Been So Confused On This Issue. The Problem Is That Some States Have The Board Of Nursing And The Work Comp Regs Giving Conflicting Info. I Am Having My Company Also Check Into This. I Will Post An Update If I Find Anything Out.

I believe Nevada also requires nurses to have a license in their state if you are speaking w/ residents there.
