I have been in IPN since Jan 09. I had a job in a nursing home from mar 09 to Nov 09. I have been looking ever since. I have had several interviews and all have been great until I say I am in IPN then it is a no. I have a job interview at a hospital for the first time. To say I am gun shy is an understatement. Do I have to tell the nurse recruiter that I am in IPN? When do I tell them I am in IPN??? What is the right approach?? HELP!!!!

Wait until you have sold yourself and they appear ready to make you an offer. Don't ever tell the screening person: wait until you have the one who makes the hiring decision in front of you. Also, you can do a search among the threads in this forum using terms like "disclosure" or "interview" and you will find many more ideas.

Keep it simple and positive.

Just because they then turn you down doesn't mean you did it wrong. There is a lot of negative prejudice out there towards nurses in recovery.

Good luck :balloons:

good luck with your interview!! yes, it's very scary- sell yourself to them before you ever mention IPN. focus on your strengths & skills. when IPN comes up, make sure they know how committed you are to the program & that they would be getting a nurse who is clean & sober, known to be so because of monitoring, & well adjusted because of your 12 step program. i'm sure there are others who can offer much more advice, but thought this might help. oh,yeah- pray for guidance prior to your interview!! all things happen because of Him & He will help you!! best of luck!!
