HELP!! Interview Tips, Please?? :)

Hey... I am graduating the RN program in May and have an interview on Tuesday with a local pediatric hospital to get into their peds critical care internship. I really want this position and want to really land this interview. Any suggestions?

Drive home the point that while your confident in your skills that you have learned, you are not afraid to ask questions. Try to think of a time you demonstrated leadership, they like to ask this. ie, in clinical, did they have a rotation where the student took the charge nurse position? ask lots of questions... about unit orientation, education etc, not only to know for yourself.... but they like if you sound motivated. Good luck, all i can think of for know....if your truely motivated and excited to work in that unit... they WILL get that:)

Just be yourself, be able to list your strengths and weaknesses and show your willingness to learn and be a team player. Don't present yourself as something you are not. Seasoned nurses can smell a "know-it-all" a mile away.

make sure to be confident in your skills, but assure them that if you don't know a procedure or your not sure about something that you'd ask a seasoned nurse or refer to the hospitals policies & procedures.

I just started a new job in PCU a few weeks ago..the nurse educator told me my 1st week of orientation that she felt I was overly confident when we spoke on the phone. She said it worried her that I would do more than I was able to & that other nurses would let me sink before offering help. I've reassured her many times that I am confident in the skills I know...but if I'm not sure I have NO PROBLEMS ASKING FOR HELP!!! Two weeks later, she's expressed to me that she is no longer concerned b/c she's heard from my preceptors that if I don't know I'd ask... better safe than sorry, especially w/ cute lil' babies!!!
