I believe you will do fine. We all get nervous in regards to new jobs. Ask questions.

this is an aside ( am I the only one who everytime someone posts, I wouldn"t take the job, or just quit. I get so annoyed with that type of answer) How in the heck is that type of answer being helpful, or helping the person to use communication skills, problem solving skills. Rarely seems to address how we can be part of the solution not just part of the problem.

Couldn't have said it better myself!! It's normal to be nervous your first time for anything you do. "Grab the bull by the horns" and enjoy it. The hours and pay are excellent motivators as well. Good luck and RELAX!:yeah:

I agree with the OP's - take a deep breath, calm yourself, and go for it!

Frankly, you may not even see a lot of peds. Many parents prefer to go to a pediatrician. My primary care MD sees more geriatrics than kids, 'cuz the younger set are not usually sick enough to need to go - except for physicals for school sports, etc. He does see some, but not enough to get upset about. The office you will be working in might be the same way.

Fear of the unknown can get us sooooo worked up, and reality is often not nearly so bad. Just as the OP's have said - ask lots of questions, say thanks a lot, maybe bring some sort of goodies for the office staff to thank them for getting you started, and you will do fine. Generally people appreciate someone who is there with a helpful attitude, and doesn't come across as a know it all.

Good luck and have fun!

I am sure the other nurses there will be grateful to have you and will help in anyway they can. The docs too... most of them at least :)

Thanks to all for the info!! :nuke: Everyone is nice there!! I was being trained by an RN. And of course they use lap tops for everything. So that is going to be my down fall. I do have trouble with taking b/p. When I was taking them the rn was taking info so I had a difficult time hearing. At the assisted living facility we used wrist b/p cuff. or the kind with automatic monitor etc. But it is such a nice office...and there was only the one doctor there...until noon...on Fri. But there is two doctors in that office. But like I said everyone is nice and welcoming...:yeah: I got to bring pts back to the exam room.. do vitals etc. But tomorrow the rn said she would follow me in the morning.. yikes.....the format of the computer is what worries me...but she said wants you get to doing it does get really easy..putting in the info about the pt. I just hate the thought of being slow...BUT the most important thing is ...yes...the shots.....I am not afraid to give the shot...its doing everything the correct way...so I am reviewing...needle sizes etc. Like I said....THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE CONFIDENCE!!!!!!! :yeah::bow::nurse:

smak, don't be frightened of the computer. That's what I do - informatics - and the entry screens are designed to be user-friendly - at least, if they're designed well.

You're doing just fine. And you will do better as you gain skills and confidence.
