Help! I missed their call and now I can't get a hold of them.

I received a phone call from a nurse recruiter at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial 2 days ago, but I happened to be taking a BLS re-certification class when she called me :banghead:

I called her back as soon as I got out of the class (2 hours later..) and left her a friendly, yet apologetic voice mail. She specifically asked what my relocation status was, which I answered in the voice mail. It's been two days and I still haven't heard back from her

The only downside is this graduate nurse program apparently begins at April 14th. I live in Oregon, so I would have to move to Florida in less than 2 weeks.....so very short notice. Is it even worth it? Oddly enough, I got an email on that same day from a nurse recruiter at a VA hospital in Oregon to arrange interviews. So I'm not sure if I should forget about Florida Hospital and move on....or still try for Florida. Any suggestions guys?

Continue to call, leaving voicemail & email contact info.

At the same time, continue to pursue all other opportunities.

Whether its worth it to move to Florida is a question only you can answer.

Thank you so much for your advise, MrChicagoRN!

I will try calling her again tomorrow and hope for the best. I suppose I'll keep trying until time runs out. Ever since this happened I've been so paranoid about not having my phone by my side! Anyway, thanks again for the insight! :)

Keep trying and email her if possible but in the meantime do not stop pursuing other opportunities. Everything for a reason. But word of advice while you're actively job hunting always leave phone on ringer 9-5... I hate my ringer on but I've learned to do that after missing one important call. Never again. But here in NYC sometimes calls are missed if we in the train because it's underground and we have to call back but recruiters understand that. Everyone goes brought it here lol

But best of luck and keep searching. Good luck with the va..always great opportunities there if you ever want to relocate. Job secured

Hey thanks Sherlucky RN!!! Yes, that is what I've been trying to tell myself as well! Everything happens for a reason. The call from Florida was actually my first call ever, so I was a bit distraught at first. But then the VA opportunity came up the same day! Life is just full of surprises sometimes.

And thank you for the suggestion about keeping my phone around. You also reminded me that I need to take in account how you guys are 3 hours ahead of me! I usually leave my phone on silent when I go to bed, but ever since then I've kept it with me at all times on full volume. In my bed, the bathroom, at dinner, everywhere! Like you said, never again!

No problem you welcome. After 5pm I say my business is closed lol then phone back on vibrate.

I would think the reason they were calling was to see if you had relocated to Florida or not already and finding out that you weren't, they realized 2 weeks was too short of a time span for you to move. If you really, really want Florida, I would call a couple of more times and talk to them about relocation or just go for the VA. My brother and sister both live there near the D.C. area and love it. My sister is a physical therapist down there. My brother has lived there for about 6 years and wouldn't change a thing. It is a good area to go to.

Ok, so I just reread your post a VA hospital in Oregon. Lol, I thought you meant the state. Sorry. Keep trying for Florida.

Haha no problem Heathermaizey! But I wholeheartedly agree with you about the D.C. area being a great area! I actually applied to a few GN programs down there because I really want to live there. The only cons are the high cost of living and housing lol.

So I finally stopped contacting Florida. They never got back to me, and at this point it would be way too short of a time span to move. I'm still upset that I missed this opportunity, but I suppose everything happens for a reason. Like you all said, I will just continue to pursue other opportunities :) Thank you all so much for your support!!!
