Hi everyone, I am so dissapointed because I failed the NET, not once but twice! I only have one more chance. If I don't pass this time I will not be allowed to take the test again for another year. I passed the math with flying colors, but the reading I failed by 2 points! I do have the NET book, but I must be studying it wrong or something. Now they are saying we will be taking the Hobet instead of the NET. I guess they are no longer using the NET test. Is there a difference? Do you think maybe I'm not smart enough for the nursing field? I really want to become an LPN. Any advice will help. Thanks all! :)

Whoa, that's a bummer. What I would do, if I were you, is to find a tutor. Don't take the last test because if you do (without tutor) and fail, you'll have to wait a year. I haven't quite made it to that part, still doing my prereq's. Good luck, hope it all works out.

Is NET like HESI? I agree with the other poster- get some tutoring. It should be available at your college. I'll be tackling (gulp) College Algebra in the Fall and will probably become very familair with the tutoring dept. Good luck!

I have to say the NET test was the dumbest test I've ever taken. Its nothing about nursing..yet they use it for preadmission??

I didn't meet the requirements of the college I was suppose to go to on the reading portion of the NET the first time either. I took a course to help me speed up my reading and to work on comprehension. The 30 minutes flew by that first time and I had to guess on a bunch of the last answers. I suggest going to the learning assistance center (or whatever they call it at your school) and asking them what they have in the way of this kind of help. I switched schools and at the new school they said they have some computer programs that will help you speed up your reading and help you comprehend. I did much better the second time and even finished with extra time, but I think you may find some help without taking a whole class. Good luck and don't underestimate yourself. A lot of people have trouble with this part of the NET!
This is all very encouraging. Before the test I thought I could comprehend reading material very good. lol. I guess I need a little more practice. I'm also looking into finding a tutor for inferential reading, which is the reading portion I failed. Thanks you guys for all your help!

Hmm, our net test seemed pretty simple. Only thing that i missed was a couple on the math regarding diving decimals and fractions, and that was becuase I haven't done it in forever w/out a calculator. anywho, i don't recall the reading being that difficuly, mostly just being able to recall what you read and what it was about. I would get any kind of books that have that type of reading questions in it. Now that you know what the test is like, it will be much easier the next time around because you'll feel less nervous about the unknown of the test. I would follow the other advice from above. Hope that helps, and good luck!
