Help, my first day in the OR

Published

Hi all, well today was my first day in the OR, my head is spinning, and i feel nauseated. I am just starting perioperative training at school as part of my orientation. I'm sure I will like it at some point, but at this point Im wondering what I got myself into. Im a new grad last year and have been doing VNA for a year. Any advice from you guys would be appreciated.

thanks

I'll take OR stress over med/surg any day. In the OR, you only have ONE patient at a time to take care of. Granted, during that time a lot of things are coming at you, but I like that a whole lot better than trying to keep track of meds for multiple patients, recording freakin' I&O's, etc.

Ha ha! I know it is just so chaotic:devil: Even the best most experienced floor nurses are spiraling out of control half the time.
