So I took the HESI A2 about a week ago and I failed it by .4%, I didn't do so great on the Vocabulary part. I purchased the Evolve HESI Study Guide, although it was a great help because it was very similiar to what would be on the test, it kind of failed me on the vocab section. I did pretty good overall just missed it by a bit. Now, my problem is that- none of the vocab that I studied from the book was on the actual test. So my recruiter said to just got pick up a dictionary and read off of it? How do I manage to do that? *Not literally speaking* Does anyone have any good tips on how I can improve besides picking up a dictionary *in which I already did* I am extremely nervous that I won't pass this second time, I desperately need to pass this. My math wasn't too bad, but I've been studying real hard to improve my math! So yeah, any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

I second that...quizlet is good.
Thank you, I will look into it! I'm super nervous, my retake is this upcoming Tuesday. Been working on my Math to boost that up as well. That way my score goes up with the Math incase I don't do too hot on the Vocab. Wish me luck!!

I got 100% on the math and 97% on the english. I can't help with the english; I would recommend the study guides. I did well on english because that's what my major was. I did study a lot for the math.
It is simple math, fractions, ratios, and conversions. There are a TON of comparisons, such as: 1:x, 2:15, find x. You also need to know a lot of measurements.
I memorized the following:
8 ounces in 1 cup
2 cups in 1 pt
2 pts in 1 qt
4 qts in 1 gallon
16 ounces / 1 lb
2.204 lbs / 1 kg
29.5735 ml / 1 oz
.3048 meters / 1 ft
F=C(9/5) + 32
C=(F-32)(5/9)
There are several metric conversions, so learn them.
If you memorize those equations, and take your time double-checking every answer, even the simple math, you'll do fine.

The most important for your math is knowing your metric conversion and really practice knowing your different maths formulas. The only advice i can give on the english is to practice identifying inference in a passage and main idea go online and research does types of question so you can get a better understanding. Best of luck.

Know your conversions. I memorized the basics & wrote them down as soon as I sat down so I could reference them later in the test. This probably helped me the most.
I want to thank you guys all for your great advice! I passed it the second time with flying colors!!!
So I'm beyond ecstatic! I received and 88% on the test, wish I could of gotten a 90% but that 88% will do :).
I don't exactly recall how I did on all of the sections, BUT!!! I got a 94% on MATH! I studied fractions backwards and forwards, conversions, ratios and percentages! ALSO!!! I purchased this one book called Math for Nurses by Kaplan! Guys, that book is amazing. It tells you step by step how to do things, basic arithmetic, IV solution calculations, everything. I'll be keeping that nursing school for sure. But either way, I strongly recommend that book as a studying tool as well! Anyway! I used to quizlet as well they had a bunch of awesome material on there. THANK YOU GUYS!!!!
