I am looking through my meds after doing chart check earlier today. I cannot decipher the following order. NTB Q6 (6, 12, 18, 24).
I understand the the every 6 part, but did I write down the med wrong? Am I missing something here? Please help, I am feeling kind of inadequate here. This is my first clinical day with this particular instuctoe at a new facility and I really need to get things right.
Thanks so much.

The order was fairly legible, could it be NTP?

Nitro paste??
I'll bet thats it!
I'll bet that its NTP 1 inch Q6.
I am tentatively going to do my workup with that and double check during my assessment. Definately makes more sense than NTB?
Thanks...

I was thinking Nitro-Bid. But there's no dosage, no route. I don't understand the numbers in parentheses, either.
When in doubt, ask someone to look at the original order. Show your instructor. That's what she's supposed to be there for.

I know thats what she's there for, just trying to figure it out. I was hoping that it wasn''t something glaringly obvious that would make me look like an idiot!(Done that before, don''t like being "called out" in front of the whole floor!)
Thanks for your response!
This board is great!
The numbers in parentheses are the admin times, 0600, 1200, etc.

If that was the exact order as written then it is an inappropriate order and should have been returned by the pharmacy. It doesn't list amount, can be 1/2 inch, up to 2 inches or more. JCAHO would never permit an order as such. Do you notice the other things that are missing?
I thought she said Nitro paste 1 inch q6hrs... Med, route, dose, and times. What else is missing?

I was thinking Nitrobid but there is no dosage or route. Never assume if you are having trouble deciphering orders always clarify the order with the doctor.

NTG is the abbreviation for nitroglycerin. Normal dosing is q8h. Did you find out what NTB was?
