I have been reading plenty of different articles and sites. However I am seriously confused. I have heard that LPN's are being passed on, in hospitals. Thats where I wanted to start my nursing career at. Now that I have been looking, I am starting to see that a patient care technician is not a bad place to start. I do know I want to eventually become an RN but I want to absolutely know that this is the right choice before i go for an ass. or batch. degree in nursing. I would love all the comments i can get to know where i should start. I am willing to work anywhere as well I am up for anything from nursing homes to offices or hospitals.. Please Help me figure this out!!!!!

I think you are spot on with the tech idea. You will work side by side with nurses and get exposed to everything that an RN does. It is true that many hospitals will no longer hire LPNs and it would not make sense for you to get that degree as long as you aren't sure about a nursing career! I would wager that within 6 months of working in a hospital as a tech you will know if nursing is for you. You can get certified to be a tech after a short training course. Good luck to you!
Thank you. This is helpful!

You pretty much answered your own post. Get yourself into a hospital volunteering, or shadow a nurse, or work as a patient care tech. Then, you'll be able to decide if nursing is for you. If it is for you, than you're ready for the next step of going to school. You don't want to start school and then later decide that it is not for you. That'll be a waste of your time and money. Make sure you want to be a nurse. :) LPNs are being phased out in my area too. There are LPNs at my school's hospital and many work in senior nursing facilities or other places too.
