I just started working at as a div 1 registered nurse and finding it very stressful at the moment. I know that there are all kinds of patients everywhere but i am now looking in the long term and am wondering if there is an area of nursing that I can do that i may enjoy more. I don't like confused or psych patients and i don't particularly want to work with people who requires full nursing care (Ie: they cant move, transfers, require washes etc)? Any ideas? What would be an area of nursing i could get into that doesn't have much of the patients i mentioned above?

you're not particularly clear about why you find nursing stressful - and yes, you will definitely find psych pts no matter what kind of nursing you do. the or (where i work) does require some moving of pts, but it is fairly minimal. if you like technical fast-paced work, that might be a place you'd like.

I always liked the pace of ER/trauma because for the most part if you have someone like that you (hopefully) don't have them for long! I always said that I didn't like all that type of care either and I loved the ER.

I am convinced there is stress in every area of nursing, but what is stress for one person is stimulation to another. Pediatrics fit me. The stress was dealing with parents, but the kids made it worth while.
