Help! cancelling my assignment.

I just recently interviewed w/ a nurse manager and was offered a position. My recruiter also read to me over the phone some sort of verbal agreement and ask if I agree and I of course said yes. I have yet to sign the written contract sent to me in the mail and I just realized that I am no longer interested in travel nursing at this time. Can I cancel since I have not signed a contract but did accept the assignment? What rights do I have to decline? Please can anyone help me b/c I am very confused and i need a lot of advice on the best way to go about cancelling my assignment.

Accepted the assignment on March 7th and want to decline by this friday. The assignment begin on May 6. To my knowledge housing has not been paid for as of yet. I have not even submitted the required forms.

Well it's too bad you've changed your mind. Too bad for both you and the travel company.

I wouldn't wait until Friday though. If you are sure you won't be taking the assignment you need to let the company know immediately, so they can fill it with another nurse.

You might save some face with this company if you do. You probably won't be able to get a position with them in the future though.

You are not obligated, legally, on a verbal contract but ethically is another story.

Please don't make a habit of this. It gives travel nurses a bad rep.
