Help c Math conversions/equivalencies!!!!!!!

U.S.A. Missouri

I am working through a book right now called Math for Nurses....it is phenomenal, however when you get to the section of equivalencies and conversions, I am getting stumped. I know enough just to look at a basic chart to convert. However, when you need to work dosage calculations for medications in the same system but having different units of measurement, and dosage calculations for medications in different systems, I just am confused. Is there any easy way to doing this?

I appreciate any feedback on good websites or tips/advice :wink2:

I have the Calculate With Confidence book as well, but I have not gone through it yet. I bought it because a dosage exam is required for acceptance into the St. Charles Community College program, which I had been planning on taking before choosing Barnes-Jewish. I plan on working through the book, though, before my nursing program begins next fall. I do know that if you are interested in taking an 8 week dosage class using this book that the class begins in October at St. Charles Community College. They only meet one evening a week for eight weeks, and that might work for your schedule.

St. Louis Community Colleges have their Fall classes listed now also....hopefully my link to the Continuing Ed courses will work for you:

Do a search for NRSG 704. There is an online option and I don't know that one is required to attend any class sessions. I see it is being offered through Flo Valley and is listed as being by Pat Finnell. While I don't see her contact info directly listed anywhere on the STLCC website, the format is usually consistent with it being first initial, last name @stlcc.edu.

Therefore, you might try dropping her an e-mail at:

[email protected] and see if it would work long-distance. These are usually 4-week sessions, once a week if you attend in-class.

Good luck!!

Thank for the information
