Help! --Any schools still taking Fall 2009 apps?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Here's my situation:

I'm 2nd-degree/2nd-life kind of student --I turn 41 in June-- and since I'm single/no-kids, I can move anywhere. Because I can move anywhere and feel that I'm too old to do Waitlist Programs, I've applied to seven "lottery" schools in CA. (And for giggles, I also applied to Boise State)

I just got a status letter form College of San Mateo --97 on their "alternate" list --I feel lnow that I should really apply to more schools, just to improve my chances of getting in somewhere.

Can anybody tell me schools, anywhere, that are still taking applications for Fall 2009?

More info:

My degree from 20yrs ago has a joke of a GPA --I never missed a keg party!-- but now, I have a nice (last 60hr) GPA, especially in my pre-reqs (Microbiology, Nursing Chemistry (hybrid of Org/Inorg), Physio, Anatomy, Nurtrition, Developmental Psych, Statistics). 85 on the TEAS.

I would have applied to UC/CSU schools, but they wanted too high of a total GPA, and I way missed the deadlines.

Online programs and I do not get along, btw.

I know that in many ways we're in competition with each other to get into a school, but maybe you can tell me about programs you're not applying to.

Thanks!

Nursing Program application deadline, May 22, 2009 by 5 p.m. :D

missathena, pace does have an accelerated bsn program. if you attend full-time it's the bsn portion of the bsn/msn but it does require the gre.

russsfo, i visited with liu today and spoke with an advisor. they have rolling admissions so there isn't a deadline. i think the same is true for adelphi. try calling the nursing department at both schools.

Duke has already filled their Fall start, but they do have an ABSN cohort that will start in January (so not much further than August). It's a 16 month program, geared specifcally towards 2nd degree students. To apply, you do have to take the GRE (and get at least 1000). Deadline for applications is July 1...they notify pretty quickly after the deadline.

FYI, I was accepted for the Fall start and am totally excited! My GPA from 20 years ago was horrible, too, but I really liked that fact that Duke looked past that and considered the whole person that I am now...my pre-req grades were solid (3.9), but I had no health care experience at all. If you want more information, just let me know! I think they have a great program, the clinicals are at world-class hospitals, and they grant their students provisional acceptance into their Master's programs.

I can give you some info on a school still accepting apps for the fall providing that you are willing to relocate. Ping me privately.
