The area you are referring to is in the Central Valley of California. It is a farming community and very rural. Get a map out and you will find that the nearest "large" cities are Fresno, to the north, and Bakersfield to the south. Los Angeles and beaches are a good 3-4 hours away south. If you like hiking, camping and such you are west from Yosemite and the Sierras. The culture is heavily Hispanic and I assume that the hospital will deal with the migrant workers and their families. The weather can get very hot, right now it is 88 and will get over 100 degrees by the end of the week. The hospital has a web site at http://www.drmc.com if you want to get some more info. I do not work there but pass it on my way home every other week, I work in SoCal and live in NorCal. Good luck in your endeavors. Mike
Thank you for your reply.Im a direct contract with DRMC but an agency is fascilatating all of the requirements.Any more info about DELANO ENVIRONMENT AND THE HOSPITAL.They offered me 28 per hour, and we have a contract for 2 years. And if I will breach my contract or any reason if I leave the hospital they will let me pay $20,000.Is this justifyable?Pls.if anybody could give me more info because Im going to sign the job offer at anytime. Is the place is good to raise a family. There is no sign in bonus nor gratuity when I finish the contact.do you think I am entitled to?
Will appreciate your reply.
Is your contract directly with the facility as the employer? Or the agency?
Most in that area do offer some type of bonus, chances are the agency is taking it.
You will need to speak Spanish, and very fluently. The area is largely Hispanic, and it will be much easier on you for you if you can speak the language and not wait for a translator.
Cost of living is lower than some of the areas near there, but the fee that you stated, is that with overtime after 8 hours? Or just overtime after 40 hours per week? And are you going to be working days, or off shift? Are they paying for your immigration fees and attorney fees, or are you?
And the most important question is who is the agency? That will answer most of it by just knowing which one.
Thanks for your reply.Im with O Grady Peyton and with direct contract with DRMC.Until now Im still waiting for their response regarding my queries regarding the pay rate. I will earn an additional 10% if I work the night shift..Also it is stated in the job offer that if my employment is terminated for any reason within first 12 mos of my contract,I will owe DRMC $20,000-the value of service they provide me.How about if I am not happy before the end of my contract is this Justifyable?
I have 8 years experience in med/surg area(including 5 yrs in coronary care/telemetry) and 2 yrs psych is $28.50 per hr is good for me to start?
Even I am with agency I paid the VISA application and probably the medical expencies(not included my family member).Honestly, until now I havent sign the job offer yet because im still gathering some more info.
Hoping for good advice and more info.
