I've been told by other travelers to go after you've had some money saved up. The pay in Hawaii is very low, less then $20 in some parts, someone told me that put you in as staff, you get to accrue PTO. They also suggested to do longer than a 13 week assignment (6 months and more) because you are so far away and its beneficial in terms of pay and housing.
I plan to travel again as a nurse in two years. My youngest daughter will graduate from high school and she wants to travel with me. She is in charge of suggesting the locations, I am providing the housing and much of the income. Alaska is the first, Hawaii second. I would like to stay at each location 6 months as would my daughter. Any good and bad experiences would be helpful.
:yelclap: Hi I just found this website. Does anyone know of a traveler friendly hospital in California. My speciality is in the ICU and my current contract ends in July so I am looking to go somewhere with interesting sites to see and that is traveler friendly. I was also considering doing some traveling to Hawaii. Does anyone have any inputs on what a travel assignment is like there pro vs cons. I sure would appreciate it. ThanksThe pay in HI use to be really low but I think that has changed over the past year or so. Do a web search for assignment in HI and contact a few companies. A friend of mine was offered an eight week contract in HI a few months ago paying $35/hr. I think that was with Fastaff. go to www.fastaff.com (they also have lots in CA as well)
let me know what you find out. i may go to HI for an assignment once i move back to the states. hope this helps.
I Am Currently On Assignmrnt In Kona, Hawaii. The Pay Isn't That Great For An Lpn, And Since That Don't Use Alot Of Lpn's I Was Put On The Floor As A Cna. Depends On Which Travel Co. Youu Go With As Far As The Rental Car Reimbursement, Airfare. Stay Away From The Evil Empire. Email Me And I Will Tell You Who I Went With Which Has Actually Cost Me Money.
