Does this sound like i would be wasting my time . . .
You know the other day I was conducting an informational interview of a friend of mine, who works for a health clinic. I asked her if she was to go for her RN would she continue to go on for her BSN and she said that the BSN is really only needed in the big citie hospitals, in small towns like mine it really isn't worth it because they cannot afford paying you for the BSN. So I to ask the same question should I go for my BSN? :uhoh21:

"As long as we all get a 'C'..." HMMM?!?!?
I have heard this also, but don't believe it neither. I am astounded by others attitudes about just passing with a "C" in order to become a nurse. As for me I am trying to get the best grades that I can get, even if it is a "C" but I will be upset with myself about just getting a "C". People with that attitude need to rethink. As for a "C" student being just as good as an "A" student isn't the same. What is this world coming to?:uhoh21:

How many failed your lpn entrance exam the first time but passed the second time?
I took the test twice. I hope that by the time I need to take the RN exam I will pass the first time. Good luck all! The following attachment is a picture of my three kids, they are my inspiration and my husband, to achieve in nursing school.

Help stuggling with nursing school don't know if I want to go on to be a nurse.
Thanks everyone for your encouraging words, I really need them right now. I will take your words to heart. It is just hard because I need to be strong for my family and keep my composure around other's. When my older sister passed away in 2000 I was the one who put together the visitation, helped her husband find a place for her to be cremated, by her choice, and I was also the one who went to her house and put together things that I know she wanted her husband and children to have, but he didn't take any of it. I took what I could and put it into storage for her children, but I know it isn't enough. Now with me having to withdrawl from two of the major classes for nursing, it has struck me in the heart. I know this looks and sounds like a cry session from me, I just need some support that other's have or are going through. I believe I have lost my composure with the disappointments of the classes. I have lost my strength of myself. Hearing the support from you all has helped me step back and look a little at my life, I really do want to be a nurse!! As a matter of fact I have enrolled into some classes this coming spring to help me succeed, but it is in my mind right now, why am I doing this because I know I will fail. I know I won't fail but the old devil has gotten to me and I am letting him win right now. I need to stop him and it is going to happen now. Thank you all for your support again. I just needed some shoulder's to dry on. Thanks again everyone. :thankya:

Help stuggling with nursing school don't know if I want to go on to be a nurse.
Thanks, reading your reply posts makes me cry. I do have the support of my sister and God and most of my church family, but their are other's like my husband that needs a kick in the butt whom doesn't want me to succeed or thinks I can't, I know I can but it is just disappointing right now to me because of having to withdrawl out of the classes and having to wait another year. I really am not a person who listens to other's about what I am or not but this is really hitting me right in the heart and making it feel like it is broken.

Help stuggling with nursing school don't know if I want to go on to be a nurse.
Hi, I am very disppointed with myself. I have been working on my pre-req's since Jan of 2006 and started LPN classes this fall and on top of that still working on a couple more pre-req's for RN. I passed all my online classes with A's and B's except for one that I falled and that one made me drop out of Foundations for Nursing 1 and 2. The very next day I took my Pharmacolgy test and failed it because I was so disappointed in my work on my other class. Well the next test of Pharmacolgy I took I missed not needing to sign a contract out of the class by two points. I also heard other's had to sign a contract with this test also but I am so disappointed in myself and depressed right now that all I really want to do is lay in bed and cry. In all my pre-req's that I have taken I have made very good grades. I have gone and signed up for next falls nursing classes but I really am at a lost. I really don't want this disappointment again. I have had a very hard life when I was younger, going through 15 foster homes until I was 14 and not knowing how to read or spell correctly until I was 15. I know to most of you this must seem like a cry session for you all, but all my life I have always wanted to be a nurse, but when it came time for me to take my ACT's when I was a senior 20 years ago I didn't because I was told by my adopted parents that I wouldn't do very well in college that why should I bother. Well 20 years later I am now in college and thinking that same thing. I am a 38 year old mother of teenager's and married to the same guy for 20 years next may of '07. Yes, I was struggling with some of my nursing classes but I pushed myself forward and passed them. Spring semester of '06 my gpa was 3.66 and my summer gpa was 3.85. My sister is my support she and I went into this together and now she is going on and I am sitting back and watching her go on and do something she has always wanted to do also and that is to be a nurse. We just thought it would be great to graduate to be nurses at the sametime. My question is, should I go on to be a nurse or should I give up because of my history of failure when I was a kid? If I drop out completely now I will have all of the student loans to pay off and my husband has told me that I jumped into going to college without even consulting him and I did consult him before I did this, and he has also said that it is my fault because I don't study that I have failed. I do study, I study more than anyone else in that class and my grades show it, and my sister all she has to do is look over the stuff the morning before the test and she passes with a B or an A. That makes me so unsure of myself, that I think what's the use? Help me please! :angryfire

Advice Please! A cna spread a rumor about me.
God says, that when you are in the right, you should apologize first. Even though you have despise for this CNA you will need to come to standards with this problem. I have had to suck it up and do the right thing even though the other person is in the wrong. Your apology should also be one that to my opinion be in front of other's or someone that can over hear your apology to her, and you need to say it some how that people knows that she is in the wrong. Don't make it an angry one but one that states that you are disappointed that she would a fellow collegue would do that. I think she is jealous of you because she is only an CNA and you are working on to be an RN, and that you might just one day be her boss looking over her. She has done a no no Good luck with your career.

Ok Freeking out now....
Hey, Christin, don't worry. I too am in the same boat. I haven't been in school for 20 years and now I am starting LPN classes this next week. Yes, I am freaking out! I started my pre-req's this past Jan. and I am still trying to finish some up on top of taking nursing classes. I am taking english comp. online, then I need to take mircro. this Christmas. It also will be online. I am so worried that I won't do well in these two classes that I won't be accepted to the RN classes. I really want to be an RN, that I can feel it in my blood. I do believe that the only ways that I am able to go through with this decision is to put God first, then there is my sister she is also taking the nursing classes with me and I really wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for my families support. These three things are what I live on. I will pray for you Christin. As we all know deep down in our hearts we all need prayer.:welcome:

Looking for a good bag
I have a backpak on wheels. It is called "Eastsport". Works great! This one I have gotten has a place for my books in one compartment and a good padded compartment for my laptop also. Then there are other smaller pockets to hold other things such as pencils, pens, but big enough to hold a PDA, or something like that. Hope this helps. :welcome: Oh yeah, I do believe I got mine at Wal-Mart.

Transgender nursing student!!
I have just got to say something about this. The instructor should have not handled the descrimination that way at all! The student should not matter male, or female should be able to have a choice to make a better person for his/herself, it is hard enough in this world to just get a career, but when you are transgender, black, white, hispanic, or any other that I haven't mentioned. As for the student,:welcome: , you go and go far. For the instructor shame on you no matter if you had permission or not, you should of known better.

Hi All
What I have seen useful when my sister and I were taking A&P this summer was we partnered up on the class and did the labs together, also read more on your outline, most of your questions are on the outlines and power points. Good Luck!:balloons:

Age when you had your first child?
Morning all, I had my first child at the age of 21, I now have three beautiful children ages 14,15,and 16. You do the math!! lol It has been tough raising them so close in age but it is better for them I think because they seem to be closer connected when they are close in age, so they enjoy to be around eachother. I have seen mother's with children 3- more years apart and the children seem to hate each other to almost the point of pulling each other's throats out. Your remarks anyone. :chair:
