Welcome to the message boards! I also live in WA and am going to Shoreline Community College. I just am finished my 4th quarter.

Depending on your college, the courses are going to be intense but if you put your mind to studying appropriately, (some needs lots, other needs less time to study) you will be successful. Clinicals are the only place you will learn the valuable skills needed for the workplace. Take full advantage of them and let the nurses that you work with know how willing you are to learn new things.

Welcome Angela!! I just finished my first round of clinicals and I loved it. All I can say is don't be as nervous as I was (i was afraid to wake up my first patient). Realize that clinicals serve as a valuable experience and take full advantage of any opportunity that you have to try something new. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed, and take time to breathe. Your classes will probably be intense, but you can do it if you work hard enough! Good Luck!

hey angela! well... all i can say is that nursing school was not what i thought it would be, and if look over the posts you'll see it tends to be somewhat of a wild ride (to say the least).

i think what the others have said is very true ~ get the most you can out of clinicals and study hard for lecture. if you get profs that are on wierd power trips or you feel as though they don't want you to succeed, remember - never ever let a program beat you! beat it!!!

align yourself with others that are like minded, don't waste time on gossip, be prepared for strains at home (if you're married or have kids)

and always keep your eye on the prize!!!

(ok - that's it - i'm going to go hurl over all of the cheesy lines i just used - oy vey!)

angela - i love living in western washington!! it's beautiful, and generally the people are pretty laid back and friendly. although i'll admit i'm starting to miss snowy winters...

Thanks for all the great replies.. It makes me feel better that im not alone!!! :) I am going to Everett CC, and this fall was my 1st quarter there, so i dont really know anyone, especially not those going into the program with me this winter. But hopefully ill meet some great people!
