Im in medsurg, and I cant believe how much there is to study in SUCH a short amount of time!
This is the beginning of my third week of the class, and we have an exam next week. I have been doing okay up until this point, but today was really when it hit me... There are endless amounts of reading. And as Im thinking of all the things I have to do, I feel nauseus and Im having heart palpitations. I hate this feeling!
Just wanted to share my experience. Im just kinda flustered at the moment...

Right around when I started nursing school I started having heart palpitations.... real life heart palpitations! PVCs to be exact. I still have them to this day and they keep me awake a night. Totally sucks! I know how you feel. The side effects of medication outweigh the benefits for me, so heart palpitations it is! I just hope yours goes away.

I can so empathize with you. I am in Med/Surg II and our ASN program is 16 months, so all of our classes are only 8 weeks long. We have an exam every week, and the first exam only 25% of us passed ( yes I was one, but barely).
Just keep on keepin on, and you will be just fine. I have never heard of anyone dying from nursing school, even though we think we might.

If only it got better... I'm doing pharm in my NP program, and we have an exam every three weeks. This week, it's CNS drugs: antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, analgesics. All the indications, side effects, doses, receptor actions.... I'm freaking out at the sheer amount to learn - 400 slides!
I know what it feels like, ghillbert. CRNA (anesthesia) exams are no better! Ahhhh, the stress!

I also had my first experience with stress induced heart palpitations when I started nursing school last semester. They go away when I feel like I have a grip on things, but every now and then I still freak out a bit and they come back. I think it is good to know that we are not alone in this. A nurse who was a lawyer before going to nursing school said that law school was a breeze compared to nursing school. Its hard, but we have to keep on truckin!!
There are many days where I am like "Why am I doing this again?"... Lol. I feel like I am shooting myself in the foot. I just cant wait for all this hard work to PAY OFF. I cant wait for the day when Im like "Ah, so THIS is why I worked my butt off for 2 years!" lol.
