100% heart and about 78-80% brain..is there a chance for me in nursing

Published

I'm very new to this...as in i just registered

I need all the advice feedback i can get from pre-nursing to nursing students and professionals..plzzzzzzzzzz :(

I'm in my 3rd yr in school my gpa is BAD but only because i started off so terrible(stupid political class!) my gpa currently is 3.08(yea bad) but i know for sure it will be 3.18-3.2 by the end of this term(if i keep up my grades)

I've taken all of my science classes except chem 2(will take in summer) and micro(currently taking) and overall i will be done with my courses this summer as far as my TEAS i took it twice first one extremly bad which shouldnt be mentione and the second which isnt all that good either 70%...

my worry is: IS THERE A CHANCE FOR ME IN NURSING

I love what nurses do and coming from a country where i've seen how much of a dif a nurse makes made me wanna do the same THAT'S ALL I WANNA DO WITH MY LIFE but lately(for about a yr now) i been feeling like this isnt for me at all not because i dont have the heart:redpinkhe for it but cuz i dont have the 3.7-4.0 brain :crying2::confused:

p.s. grades for science courses...a&p 1 B both lab and lecture a&p 2 B in lecture and C in lab :o and chem 1 B in lecture and A in lab

In your tags it says gsu do you want to get into southern's program or georgia state? Theres a thread on here where all the accepted georgia state nursing students talk. They are really nice and helpful!

hey highschoolfuturenurs

I dont know how the tag thing works really. I'm looking into school all over georgia although it would be nice if it wasnt too far off.

Can you send me a link to the thread?

Just have the confidence to do it! I does not sound like you are a horrible student, and my experience in nursing school is that my grades improved once I started. Nursing classes are interesting to me so I did better as I took the classes. I started my program with a 3.2 as a transfer, and I just finished my first year of clinical with a 3.5. Nursing classes were more interesting for me to study than chemistry or microbio honestly, because I could see how to apply my knowledge.

I also feel like the TEAs is not a good measure of how successful you are as a nurse of student. It had questions I probably should have learned in middle and high school, but didn't because I was not a very strong student in those years. I feel like if your heart is in it then you will be able to get through. Good luck!

I know at least in my area, community colleges generally look less at your GPA, more at things like your entrance exam score. I wasn't a stellar student when I got my first degree, but I am certain that if I apply myself, I'm going to get in! I think you should go for it :) Good luck!!

I'm very glad for you! :yeah:

Schools look at everything these days...I actually spoke to an advisor at one of the school a week ago and she told me to sit out for a yr by taking elective classes to pull my gpa up cause my chances of getting to nursing schools with a 3.16 is very thin :(

it broke my heart so im trying to recover from her harsh words!:crying2:

I really dont know anymore...I'm thinking about applying to MCG and one other school to give it a last go and it it doesnt work out then I'll find something in medical field that I can use the classes i've taken so far so it wont go to waste...maybe respiratory therapy :uhoh3:

That's the thing...my entrance exam isnt good either and i already used up both my chances

Thanks Good Luck to you too!
