Hello, nursemn,

Yes, it is a true profession. The practice of legal nurse consulting is within the scope of practice for the RN.

The RN should be educated as LNC to know some things about the law, yes. But, we are not lawyers nor are we giving any legal advice to anyone. Simply work with the attorney-client to provide services about nursing/medical matters and the attorney applies this to the law.

Yes, you can do this at home. I own my business and location is in the home. I don't necessarily "run all over the country" unless I desire to do this and I do. I have many clients out of my own area/state.

Please, if you have other quesitons, don't hesitate to post here.

thankyou for your reply i have some other questions though

#1 i'm an lpn and i looked online at lncstat.com have you heard of this website , i wouldn't want to get scammed!!and where did you go to school for legal nurse consulting, the online company said i could enter the program as an lpn, the course is $2300,trying to decide if i should just get my rn instead of going online with the legal nurse consulting program since i'd still be an lpn.

#2 is it hard to get started advertising for your job, i'm used to the 9-5 jobs since i worked in the clinic, how much competition is there out there i'm leary that if i go into legal nurse consulting i wouldn't have a guranteed job

#3 i don't know much about the law should i take an extra course in this

thankyou for your time

Yes, I am familiar with the lncstat.com

If you will look under the tab, "The Secret to becoming successful as a Legal Nurse Consultant", you will see this excerpt:

If you are an RN, you come equipped with all you need to know to be a Legal Nurse Consultant. There are many courses to choose from.

There are thousands of RNs all across the country that take Legal Nurse Consulting courses.

The ANA just this year announced that the LNC career was within the RN scope of practice. It is not within the LPN scope of practice.

You might be told that you can do this and just inform the attorney-client that you can offer the same services as an RN. This is fraudulent. If you do, you are practicing outside your scope of practice and could have repercussions from your state board of nursing.

Be careful.......

i believe that you may have misunderstood the meaning of the title. legal nurse consulting is for rn's. there are several great companies that offer training and certification for the lnc. you must have your rn license in order to practice as a legal nurse. hope this helps.
