Hi Zoe and Hiker,

yeah, we really had 500 kids. It's hard to believe. Well, almost hard to believe, the little buggers were everywhere. And 2 of them were mine.

I'm still recovering.

Today walked 3 miles and completed my yoga. The eating is getting better now that VBS is over.

Wow, yes that IS hard to believe, but I believe you! Did you guys have enough helpers?

Good for you re your healthier choices! xo

Hi Zoe,

Yeah, we did have enough helpers. I was a 1:1 person, placed with 2 guides. each team had approximately 10 children in it. Yep, we had approximately 50 teams.

Its nice because, lots of parents are encouraged to get involved by just giving 1-2 hours a day. Heck, that's a lot of time for VBS; so, we have enough people. When we run short, someone is usually willing to jump in and help. We had about 12-13 volunteers for registration, which was good. Usually the parents are able to register their children online before VBS starts This way, there's not so much for them/us to do on the first night. After the first 2 nights, the rest of the registration volunteers are dispersed somewhere in the mix of children.

It takes a full year to plan, organize, budget, etc. And, they have already started on next year's VBS. Meanwhile, my children are still blasting the music CDs from this year. I have to admit, the music is fun: LOUD: but fun.

I think I am going to give up on eating "clean" and just keep doing the best that I can. I have been wanting to eat "clean" but this isn't possible right now.

1hr of bowflex training. I have had several headaches over the past few days. Today, I visited the chiropractor. I can honestly say that my neck is much better aligned now. I could feel the results immediately. I am still having headaches but I think somewhere along the line over these last few years my body is crossing over from headaches to migraines. I can't stand light or sound and have occasional nausea with my headaches now. Owell, it is what it is. Not overly happy with this; but, I think caffine maybe linked to some migraine issue stuff. I can't remember. I'll pull out my books tonight.

Anyway, maybe it is better that I haven't exercised much more today. I do miss the pool though. The water is relaxing.

i'll check back in tomorrow. thanks guys.

Hey Zoe :)

Gentle, what's bowflex? My friends who have gone to chiropractors loved going. I'd like to go, but I'm kinda afraid I'd get addicted. It really makes a difference for you, then? Can it make your neck/shoulder muscles less tight or am I involved in some wishful thinking here?

Wow, we are nowhere near as organized ;) But - we had fun last year and a quality program, and lots of parents/church members volunteered. I have the whole wk off so I can be there every nite.

Steambox, what am I missing? Ugh on the laundry though. My friend has someone come in and do her families, but I'd feel silly (also way too poor, LOL). At least it's summer, with shorts and swim-suits, at least the laundry pile tends to be a lot smaller than winter with blue jeans and turtlenecks, undershirts, etc :)

That quote takes me back :)

Gentle, I had a migraine once and thought I was having a stroke. I told DH what to say when I passed out and he called 911. Not until later did I discover it must have been a migraine. They can be VERY debilitating. Sorry :icon_hug:

Work at a salvation army store that has NO a/c - is all steel walls and roof, and about 90-95 * outside - I am sure MUCH hotter inside! Next time I am bringing a thermometer to check my body temp - I do take in fluids but - fluid CAN BOIL!

As to laundry - mom used to send it out for ironing (I always thought we were poor, growing up)... at one point when I was independently wealthy (ha ha) I did drop off laundry to have it washed - got over the "no one is looking at my underwear" phobia - it was worth it. But - pennies are tight and generating sparks so - I do it myself. Even at that it costs a mint!

Re: Migraines, I went into the ER one night (sorry, ER nurses...) for one that I could NOT get rid of, more like a 15/10 - my bp was 220/109 that night. Fortunately have never had one quite that bad since ...

Hi Hiker,

As best as I can describe it, bowflex is like lifting weights but takes up much less space. Some how or another the instructor adjusts the weight on the machine by rearranging the pulley system. It's pretty neat. That was my first time trying it. I would like to go back tomorrow but don't think I will have time. Covering for a friend at work for a few hours.

My headaches have diminished a great deal since the adjustment by the chiropractor. I haven't had to lay down at all today. Please keep in mind that my husband had the boys at the circus for most of the morning. I think if I had gone with him, I would have been crying by this afternoon. As such, I am still trying to keep the noise level and light level down. (the boys were sooooo good today, after the circus. I don't think they had much umph left in them.)

I can't say it's just the chiropractor, but, I can say, that he did help an awful lot. After the adjustment, my head still hurt. I still ended up coming home and laying down after I settled the boys down. I did apply the cool packs to my neck and head as instructed and took more motrin. I really did seem to work a lot faster this time. Sometimes it takes a long time for the motrin to work. By late yesterday evening, I had weak dull throbbs that were "very" tolerable. I even watched a movie with DH.

This morning I actually woke up and felt pretty good. I had a few episodes of my head throbbing but not sooo much that I had to lay down, which is good for me. I didn't take any motrin today either.

And yes, my left shoulder is definitely less tight. Now to get the spine back in proper alignment and strengthen my muscles to keep the alignment.

Thanks Muffie. Will do. over and out. ;)

Zoe,

It's people like you who really help make the week go smoothly. ;)

"clean"?

by clean, I mean not eating junk foods. I think other people may mean not eating junk foods; or foods not allowed on their particular diet; or not eating at the wrong time/amount.

That's too complicated for me. Heck avoiding the junk food altogether is also challenging for me. I'm just going to keep doing what I have been doing. Trying to create healthy habits here and there. A little more fruit on one week. One or 2 fresh vegetables on another week.

Migraines: I don't lik 'em but oh well. what do ya do? The chiropractor seems to have helped a great deal for me. That said, I can now feel a few twinges. I think it is about time for bed.

Gentle, I had a migraine once and thought I was having a stroke. I told DH what to say when I passed out and he called 911. Not until later did I discover it must have been a migraine. They can be VERY debilitating. Sorry :icon_hug:

thanks for the hug hiker. Apparently, I have been more fortunate than you :o. Geez, I hope you don't ever have to go through that again. :icon_hug: My best to everyone.

Exercise update:

None for today. Start again tomorrow.

Gentle -

I used to get headaches a lot more often, some of them pretty bad. Chiropractic helped significantly. Used to take Advil/ibuprofen for them as well, until SIL mentioned her headaches went away when she quit with the ibuprofen. Some sort of rebound effect when the ib. is wearing off can actually cause another headache. I tried it and swapped to good old tylenol if a headache starts up. Voila, headaches are rare now.

Best wishes for a headache free day!

I don't know how frequently you have gotten these but I ended up on a med for about a year - Axert - I took it as soon as the migraine started and it usually held it off. (each pill lasts 24 hrs and I think I took a max of 3 in 3 days ...? it was a while ago)...

I know that in the ER they often give extra fluids as part of the treatment - don't know what else you can do.

Hi Blue! I didn't see you pulling up behind me, LOL!

Speaking of not seeing somebody - we haven't seen Sarah for ages! I know she has been super busy but it's nice to see her --

Hi all the rest, have a "supah" day! (not SUPPER, "supah"!)
