Healthcare Management/Administration

Can anyone tell me what a degree/job in healthcare management/administration is like compared to nursing? Are the prereqs the same for this degree and is the job easier/harder to get than nursing? Any information and differences/similarities would be appreciated! Thanks!

Someone I know does this kind of work in a hospital. They were hired into the job and remarked that they wanted to get formal education to bolster their resume. Lots of what I would describe as "fly by night" programs out there; could only find one program in a nearby well known university. I would caution one to be careful in choosing an educational program.

I actually got my degree first in Healthcare Administration and that entails more of jobs in medical billing and coding or management of doctor offices. I had trouble finding a job in my area in this department even after I was certified through the state. The best job I got at the time was as a secretary in a hospital unit. And, since I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life, I decided to go back to school. I got my degree in nursing and now am in my first year as a nurse. I plan to go back to school some day for advanced degrees in hopefully both fields, so who knows where I might end up then. Don't know if that answer helps, but that was my experience.
