Health Insurance?

Published

I start nursing school in April and i just recently received my orientation paperwork. One of the items on the list to bring with me is my health insurance card. I work at a part time job and once i start school I am no longer eligible for my companies health benefits. I will not be working as much when i start school so paying for my own insurance will be too expensive. I do not know what to do.................

I went to nursing school in Massachusetts, which requires all students taking at least 9 credits to have health insurance. My school's plan was pretty cheap, but it was terrible. It didn't cover prescriptions, physicals, organ transplants, birth control, vision care, or women's health issues outside of obstetrics.

Call a health insurance broker and check into individual plans. It may not be as expensive as you think. Ask about HSA plans - those are high deductible, but once you hit the deduct. it pays 100%, and the premiums are way more reasonable than traditional plans.
