I did not get any----I am healthy and did not see the reason to do so----everybody else in the class said I was stupid, but I saved a load of cash not doing so---$350 was better in my pocket every month---If you are young and healthy I would do without, especially dental---you can pay to get your teeth clean twice a year for about what the whole insurance would cost you----

my school requires it. they offer it through the school for 1400$ a year. check with your school to see if it is required. most schools will provide some option for health insurance. it's nice to have the piece of mind, you can make up for the lost money later.

I am not in CRNA school, but I definitely recommend ALWAYS having health insurance. It is too much of a risk to drop health insurance. I am 36 and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 9/2003. A company called Fortis offers temporary health insurance at a reasonable price. It does not cover any pre-existing conditions. Also, you can just get major medical with a high deductible. I had a policy through State Farm at one time. I agree with the advice that you do not need dental insurance.

Most schools offer student insurance...............I would highly recommend having some type of policy, if even just catastrophic........................ :balloons:

I wish there was an easy answer to this. I would get insurance if there was a plan that was worth the premium. I had it for the first sem. but did't re-up for the second. I had to go to a doc-in-a-box last week. I paid cash, it was about 180 but that is much less than the premium would have been. Of course if something serious happens I am screwed.

I would also check into your local Farm Bureau office. In a previous life, I was the eCommerce Marketing Manager for Service Merchandise. Service Merchandise liquidated and let go of most of their employees very hastily on 1/4/2002 - including me. Farm Bureau offered the best rates by far. There is a misconception that you need to own or have family members that own farmland ... untrue, you just have to be a member ... a ~$15 membership. If you have kids, this option might be cheaper than the school insurance policies.

My school provides it for no extra charge....I count my blessings everyday!

Where in NC are you? I have to pay for mine out of pocket. What school are you at?
