Health Insurance And Nursing????

Published

Is it me and where I work in TN or is it the topic of health benifits for nurses from their employer a thing of the past?? The past several LTC's and DR. offices I have worked at DO NOT offer insurance for employees unless you want to pay $500 and up per month. And this is not a family plan, this is for employee only. Some of the hospitals offer health insurance but even then it may be only 1/2 of the premium paid for by the employer. Most of my former co-workers and nurse friends do not have any type of insurance coverage. I believe this to be horriable, especially since we are the ones in the health care profession taking care of others. Any one else having this problem in the state or city your working in?

hello and welcome to the wonderful family of allnurses.com. enjoy your stay, and best of luck to you. :)

Do you happen to live near Memphis? Our company Tenet Healthcare owns St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis-Bartlett in Memphis. Insurance is VERY reasonable and ER copays are usually waived if you as an employee go to one of their hospitals for treatment. Lots of great benefits also. Dollar for dollar 401k match up to 5% and they are reimbursing my nursing tuition (every class, even electives) up to $3000.00 a year! For more information if it is an option for you visit: http://www.tenethealth.com

(and I promise I am not a recruiter, just one satisfied employee!)
