I'd like to introduce myself. I am 33, mom to 3 bio kids and 3 step-kids. I am taking the plunge and headed back to school. I am a nervous wreck....I dropped out my senior year to have my oldest daughter but I did manage to get my GED. Needless to say I have lots of cobwebs that will need dusted off
I will start at HACC in January and obviously I need to take some refresher courses, probably alot! I guess I am concerned most about being an "older" student. My brain just doesn't work like those young'uns.
If any of you fall into the older mom category I'd be interested in hearing from you. It's scary!

Hey there!
Nother adult learner, here! 34 so I got ya beat! I just started back to finish my pre reqs, hoping to get into clinicals in a year or so. It's not so scary, this time around, I have found myself much more dedicated to learning and doing well....Maturity is worth alot, ya know? You'll do fine, I hear HACC can be tough! But they do have a very good NCLEX pass rate, good luck!:welcome:

I have you both beat. I decided to start college at age of 40 with 2 young kids. I now work for a LTC on the weekends, they are putting me thru school. I am in my first year at Brandywine. So far so good. It is very hard and I am tired all the time. But I am doing better than I thought I would. It took me 1.5 yrs to get all my pre req's done for my RN dipoloma.
Good Luck. I truly believe if you want it bad enough you can do it.

In the program I will start in March, the average age is around 33. Never felt so good to be average, huh? I was worried about being "too old" in the class until they told me that. Now I'm looking forward to my "peers".
Good luck!

Hey MrsBradyMom, what HACC campus will you be starting at? I am in my first semester at the Gettysburg campus. It is a tough program, but it's definitely one of the best. I am 28 and have 3 kids, so I can relate!
Hey! Thanks for all you guys' replies. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'll be attending Harrisburg campus. My kids think it's a hoot that I'll also have "homework", lol. My oldest stepdaughter is 17 and is looking at HACC for next fall. She doesn't think it's quite so cute that her stepmom could also be a student.

When I first went to college there was someone who graduated who was over 80 years old! (I believe he was actually 93 but I can't remember exactly) So it is never too late!

I was 39 at the start and very motivated to do well. Work hard and be confident. That will get you most of the way there. BTW, I was the only guy in my class.
