Head lac(pic) need opinions pls

Isn't this one heck of an intro? I've lurked here for as long as I can remember, but never signed up until today. Anyways, what better place than the professional community for some opinions, eh. Three days ago ended up with this head lac (pic below) and just took this pic using my web cam

The staple at the bottom of the pic is bothering me. Should I even worry about seeing the local doc in the box, or just ride it out and let it heal?

It's difficult to determine anything by the pic-sorry...From what I can see it just looks like there's alot of dried blood around that staple.Looks like the area should be cleaned well..Is there redness extending around the lac? Draininage? Running a temp? Increasing discomfort? Those are signs of infection and warrant a follow up----Clean the area and look at it again....How'd you do that?
