Head Injury Question

Published

Hello All,

I have a case I am working on and need a little help. The pt had a motorcycle accident and is unresponsive. His CT results show: Head - left skull fracture, left sudural hematoma, bilateral intraventricular and subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral edema. Abdomen/Pelvis: lacerated liver, multiple infarcts to right kidney, fluid around duodenum and pancreas, and multiple left pelvic fractures. What could be the cause of his hypoxia, hypotension and tachycardia?

Thank you so much for any help.................

Hypovolemic shock??

Hypovolemia would be my fast guess too.

maybe hypoxia due to all of the swelling and then maybe hypotension because of all of the blood loss and tachycardia because the body is trying to compensate the hypotension?
