HCC Spring 2017 Nursing Program

Published

Anyone out there know if they are applying for the 2017 Nursing program for HCC (Hillsborough Community College)? I am! Just realized I want to do this so I'm taking A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and sociology this summer. Apparently its called the crazy train! Anyone else doing something similar?

No absolutely apply. I applied in July because I knew my classes would be done before the deadline. Honestly, the sooner you apply, once you meet all the other requirements (teas, application fee) the faster they go through your paperwork. If there is an issue you know early and can adjust.

What was your gpa at the time you applied ? If you don't mind me asking

My prerequisite GPA was 4.0. My cumulative GPA was 3.85. For our Spring 17 class the cutoff was 3.5, at least that's what others said they got in their declination letters. We were told in orientation that there was a significant increase of applicants in our group. Some people are saying that the Fall '17 group may be smaller in applicants and lower GPA cutoff. I think its hard to judge. In Fall '16 there were people with 2.8 that got in. Where is your GPA sitting right now?

I have a 3.47. Should I not apply? I've gotten all As n Bs

Good Gosh you have to apply. The GPA stuff changes so much, you can't gauge it. If you have all A's and B's you should be ok. Always push yourself and try. If its something you want chase it you will get there. Apply, the grades fluctuate so much, its so hard to judge it and if you don't apply you surly will not get in. Don't second guess yourself, you got this!

Thank you ! I definitely will apply

when you say you talked to an advisor you mean the regular advisor or someone in health admissions

I have a question does the nursing program do admissions based off of your full gpa or your prereq for the program gpa

did you end up getting in ?

Ive seen plenty of applicants get in with a 3.5 and it's been less applicants each year just keep your head up. We are all nervous except the ones with 4.0 gpas who we know are guaranteed.

how are people seeing whom got in last year and what there gpas are, im just curious ?

Hello ADN students of Spring '17!

I hope the start of the semester is going well for everyone. Would anyone tell me how the classes are set up? I will be applying or the fall after withdrawling from another program due to a move. Im curious how the two programs compare. The one I was in we had class every day--Mon was lecture, Tuesday was lab, Wed was lab, Thur clinical, Friday was pharmacology lecture. How do your skills lab work? TIA for your input!

Hey guys!!!

since some of y'all are in the program could I ask a question...

what's the schedule like with labs? I know the hcc website says three days but it doesn't say much about labs...

Thanks in advance. :)
