Hi Everyone,
I'll be applying for HCC Spring 2012. I was intending on taking my prerequisites in the Fall, but I've decided to knock out A&P II and Micro this summer to avoid any complications in the application process. I'm getting conflicting reports that prereqs have to be complete BEFORE the application is due, then others say that I'm allowed 1 course in progress. Not sure, so just to be on the safe side I've opted to register for both courses over the summer.
I hope this thread will bring together all the Houston Community College Spring 2012 applicants.
Goodluck Everyone:D
I also just finished taking Pharmacology this summer at HCCS and will be entering the program this fall. I had Ms. Rich as my professor and some students will tell you that she is ridiculously difficult and a hard teacher (I had several people tell me this my first day) but she is actually fantastic. As long as you're prepared for the exam you'll do fine, I recommend focusing on the instructor's notes, I noticed most of the test questions were drawn from there. As hopeful_2013 mentioned MANY people will fail or drop out, my class lost more than half of the students halfway before the course ended. The math test may also seem like it will be a cakewalk but many people in my class failed it the first time around because they did not learn abbreviations so make sure you learn them!
@ hopeful_13,
I'm taking the class Monday evenings from 5pm-8pm. How long was your class??
My class met Mondays and Wednesdays at 9am-12pm, but sometimes we went over and some days we left early. Do not be discouraged, be encouraged. This class weeds most students, who aren't ready yet, out of the program to further prepare themselves or rethink their choice in a career. If you REALLY want this, you will be very busy, but just fine.
I have doubts in you, CareAngel
Hopeful_2013, fauxlivia,Thank you so very much for the information. Its very intimidating when you say that half the class dropped the course.

You shouldn't feel intimidated, those that did not succeed in the class did not take it seriously, it is not a difficult course as long as you put some effort into it. The people that wait until the night before to cram are the ones that failed or dropped. I didn't mean to make it sound intimidating, you'll do fine!
