HCC Spring 2012-Houston Community College

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'll be applying for HCC Spring 2012. I was intending on taking my prerequisites in the Fall, but I've decided to knock out A&P II and Micro this summer to avoid any complications in the application process. I'm getting conflicting reports that prereqs have to be complete BEFORE the application is due, then others say that I'm allowed 1 course in progress. Not sure, so just to be on the safe side I've opted to register for both courses over the summer.

I hope this thread will bring together all the Houston Community College Spring 2012 applicants.

Goodluck Everyone:D

Hey Allinknots! I havent been recieving email either. I'm not sure what's wrong with the system. I did okay. I didn't do as well as I wanted to, but I think I can pull my grade up.

Yeah me too...I am just busting my butt from now on!

Hi, sorry I am not getting emails telling me people have posted on here so I haven't even looked in a while and I was out of town for a week for a wedding. Have you found any more info out? I hope you are getting some good news!

Hmmm...I am supposedly subscribed to this thread, but am also not getting emails when y'all reply to it....weird...anyways, I did get to talk to the counselor at Coleman when I went to the ER meeting. She told me I need to take my TEAS, like NOW, apply to the program, then when I get my letter saying I can take Pharm, I can register. I am just flipping out a little because registration for spring opens November 7th and I'm not sure how fast the pharmacology classes fill up.. Especially the evening ones.So right now I'm researching the study manuals for the TEAS study guides and trying to decide if I should spend $70 for the one made by ATI or get a McGraw/Hill...they both get ok reviews, but the McGraw one I just read on amazon had very very detailed reviews about what was on the test and how well the book covered it.

I had asked the counselor there about my poor math grade and if she thought I would need to take math 0312 and she told me I didn't need it. even with a D in college algebra she says the fact that i just TOOK it proves I am eligible for college level math and that's all they are looking for. That kinda worries me. I wonder if I was sitting in the interview or if they were looking over my application would they pass me up over that grade? I am willing to retake it if that is the case.

Problem is this will just push my plans back by one semester. I can do that, but it's just a little disappointing. I don't even know if I have time to study for the TEAS and take it before classes start in the spring....but I am gonna get it taken care of as soon as I can. I just want this to happen and I want it to happen now. I don't want it to get pushed back by a semester. I am gonna do everything in my power now to avoid that. if it happens, then it was meant to be, and if I have to wait another semester, then that just gives me time to get more ducks in more rows and more hoops for me to jump thru for them. hahahaha. I hope you get this Allinknots!

OH! And what is the minimum score we have to get on the TEAS????

I went to the ER session on the 21st also and I guess I talked to the wrong person. So I'll be calling the school tomorrow to get more information. I live in Killeen but I need to know what I need to get done before I apply for the next semester. I would like to go in 2012 and which classes they will take. If anyone has any information I will greatly appreciate it. I know I'm going to have to take the TEAS asap but I'm a little confused on the other classes I need. If I understood correctly I just need A&P 1&2 in order to apply. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Any help will be good....

You must have both of your basic English classes out of the way. Also A&P 1 and Intro to Psychology. A&P 2 is one you can take while in the program. Its not a prerequisite but I think they recommend you have it done before just to lighten your load during nursing school. I will look for the link to the page that shows you these requirements when I am at a real computer and not just my iPod. :-) hope that helps a little!

I hope you all are doing great! My first semester is going by smoothly and rather quick! :D

Did anyone on here apply to the LVN program? I applied and just a second ago got a congrats letter for an interview and FOUR other requirements to complete by November 7th! I have to get 3 recently dated letters of references, interview an LVN and write two- three pages on it, get a signed verification statement by the LVN and hand write a brief autobiographical sketch!!

Did anyone know these requirements existed? I thought I would only have to interview haha.

@Pinaculotta05,

Geeeeeez! I applied to the ADN program. I don't think the ADN program requires that much. Most of us have applied to the ADN program.

Congrats on getting accepted!! I am applying to the ADN program. Besides the interview, I have not heard of any of these types of requirements at all. That's a lot! Good luck!! "brief autobiographical sketch"??? I'm gonna start thinking of what I might write just in case they make us do this for ADN as well!

Does anyone know how quickly (or slowly!) we get our TEAS results? Is this something we are given as we are leaving the testing site, or does it take more time for the grade to be calculated?

You'll get your scores that day.

Yeah, the LVN requirements are no joke! I received my letter, as well. I thought I was done and simply had to wait for the interview. Now there's even more work to be done!

I am starting to think all the requirements for the LVN program is just another way to weed out students. I wonder how many applied?!
