HCC Applicants for Spring 2010

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi all, I applied to the nursing program at HCC for spring 2010 and I was wondering if there is anybody who might have done the same thing. At this point I'm extremely anxious trying to find out if I got accepted or how long will it take for them to decide it??? Does anyone know anything???? I appreciate any replies. :uhoh21:

The wait is borderline torture. I can tell you, in our orientation for the fall class, they said there were 5 applicants for each seat! Also the GPA was the highest ever. So keep your GPA up because it might not get any eaiser!

You are the second person whom I have heard talk about record enrollment and higher gpa. We know that this Fall, the floor/base gpa was around 3.4. Based on what you are saying, the gpa would be around 3.5 and that is scary, especially for a community college. GPAs below 3.5 are still good but may not be good enought. I just looked at the schedule for Brandon and Ybor City's microbiology and ap 1 and 2, they appear to be around 90 full with most closed out.

I heard that South shore would be taking 26 students this year and if PC and DB usually take 60 that would mean a total of 150. Now, if what you heard in orientation pans out, that would mean around 700 people applied. I don't like those odds. It is making it almost impossible to get into nursing with public colleges being so competitive and so few slots and even with private schools causing an arm and a leg.

I applied for spring 2010 also. I have applied in the webadvisor page as well. Unless something changed I thought they pushed back the opening of the southshore campus???

before i reposted i did call southshore just now and they said as of now they are planning to open the nursing program at southshore for the spring class :-)

Hi all, I just found out that the elegibility process will take till october this year and the letters of acceptance will be arriving in November this year. I'm sooo frustratedat this point since it takes forever to find out if I got accepted or not!!! Definitely not happy at all...:(

Regarding the application on WebAdvisor mine doesn't show up???? It may be because I graduated in 2006 and it only shows AA in Lib Arts. Do any of you know how can I apply so that it says Health Science program applicant???? Thanks for your help in advance.

WOW november- who said that?

HCC just cashed my $53 application check. So that confirms the receipt of my app. I couldn't do the postcard thing, I went to all the stores near the Dale Mabry campus - no one sold them. Now.. the wait.

I hear that there would be a delay in responding to applicants due to the overwhelming # of applicants. This sucks because if you applied several places, one has to go ahead and keep those spots active until you know for sure if HCC accepts you.

Where did you get the November timeframe?

two questions!

where do you find the status for health/science applicant? i'm new to hawknet so i'm not sure where to look for it.

and what is everyones gpa's? just curious to see what i'm up against! ;)

definitely not excited about having to wait even longer to hear back. this is the only thing i've got going for me right now and the wait is killing me! i'm sure i'm not alone on feeling this way.

did anyone get a letter in the mail to rank your campus placement preferences? :uhoh21: wondering if they sent it out to all applicants or if i actually have a shot of getting in!

my friend with a gpa of 3.67 got the rank your campus letter today, however I did not (gpa of only 3.38 due to 10yrs ago college, though I have a 3.9 in all sciences)

so i'm wondering if that means I am not on the short list. I'll give it till the end of the week and if I don't receive one, well let's just say I'll cry.

my heart skipped a beat when i saw the envelope with HCC on it. keep me posted on if you get one! (i hope you do!)
