Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone else has applied to the HBU nursing program for the spring of 2015? I'm so excited and nervous! Does anyone have an idea of the usual scale of GPAs or Hesi scores that are accepted at HBU?
Yes, those are all wonderful questions Alex! Especially because this will be our life for the next 2 years and those are all things to consider. I believe UT is sending out their letters soon from what the students have posted on the UT forum on this website. So keep checking your status, hopefully you pick the best choice for you and you get to go to school where you feel most at home!
FINALLY !!

Any tips you ladies would like to share about passing the hesi for HBU ! please share . Aslo i was looking into attending HCC Coleman also , but i heard things about there nursing program thats its not so good .
Bella_Bella,
Some of us aren't sure if we're in yet so we can't exactly answer your questions. Just do the best you can for the HESI and try to make all A's in your prerequisites, especially your science and math courses. The more prerequisites you finish before the test, the easier it will be.
Hello everyone. I am so glad I came across this post. I have been selected as an alternate so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get in for the Spring. I am a bit nervous as my GPA was low at 3.4 and HESI overall score was an 86. I have also applied to Alvin Community College (still waiting for a response), and WGU (I was declined due to lack of medical experience). I wish you all the best of luck and I ask that you send prayers and positive vibes my way. My kids and I are ready for me to get started.......
Also...
The Asst. Dean told me yesterday that on Monday (Oct. 27) they will do a quick "voice vote" on the alternates (instead of spreading them all out and knit picking each one) because she wants to start the background checks ASAP. I'm hoping what she meant by that was if there are let's say 7 spots available, and 10 people wait listed, then they will just accept all 10 students because 3 more students isn't that much more.
Wishful thinking I know but I talked to a student awhile ago and she said they have done that before when it's just 2 or 3 students over normal quota.

Bmahmood,
I would wait until you hear from all of the schools you applied to, unless your deadlines to reply come before all of your acceptance letters. If you do hear from all if the schools before any deadlines, pick what's best for you and your situation. What school do you have your heart set on? How much do you have to spend? Is the commute ok? Do you need or want to get in and out of a BSN program ASAP? If you don't hear from all of the schools before deadlines, are you willing to gamble with your second pick? Would it be worth it in the end to wait to hear from your first pick?
