Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU) Spring 2020 Applicants

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

Hi ?

Wondering if there's anyone around who's applying for the Spring 2020 BSN Program at HPU? Having trouble finding any info from others applying!

I have all A's & a couple B's for my prereqs and got a 73.3 on my TEAS.

How’s everyone schedule looking?

For anyone that didn't get in, consider it a blessing in disguise. This is a horrible university with the lowest NCLEX pass rate in the state. You can check the pass rate on Hawaii's government website for professional licensing. The school is not financially stable, very unorganized, and has a high turn of faculty. There have been times where the instructors aren't found until days before clinicals start... they've been lucky to have been able to get staff but luck doesn't last. Consider yourself warned!! Get your nursing degree from somewhere else

I don’t know. I’ve met a lot of people that went to HPU and loved it. They are now working in great hospitals. I’m sure everyone has different experience. I’m hoping to get in and good luck to you.

If you're from Hawaii and are smart enough to get into UH Manoa's program, that is the best on island and the most economical too. I'd consider HPU the last chance nursing option on Oahu, they accept those with lower scores but are willing to pay to get their nursing degrees. Good luck

Specializes in Student in pre-nursing..

So how was the first semester of the HPU nursing program for those that attended?

I'm feeling super nervous about joining this fall.

CONGRATS on getting in! Its kinda hard to say because of Covid... before all of that it was okay. Parking is a pain. Some of the professors were good and really insightful and others are bad. I feel like it’s like that with any school though. Just find some classmates to figure everything out with together. We had a group message with my clinical group the whole semester and we all helped each other out if were ever confused about deadlines or anything like that ? the material itself wasn’t terrible as long as you’re staying on top of studying. Good luck!!

Hey Kayla,

How do you like the program? I am looking to apply for Fall 2020. I take the TEAS at the end of November. Was it hard? Also, if you barely made the requirements for the TEAS & GPA, what made your application stand out? Thanks for all your help!

Did you get accepted for Fall 2020? I have. Was seeing if you got in or need more guidance.
