I've taken what feels like a million classes over the past few years.. and this last year has been all nursing/BSN pre-requisites (doing the last one- Chemistry- right now). In all the prerequisite sciences (AP1/2, Micro, Nutrition) I've made As. Unfortunately, that roll of good fortune is going to be broken with Chemistry as I'm praying just to get a C at this point...
Anyway- I feel like I don't remember anything from ANY of these classes.. and Chem, I'm sure, will be the same. What's the point if you take a class, cram what you need into your head to ace the tests, and then immediately forget?
I'm just wondering if anyone else feels like as soon as they are done with a class, they don't remember most of it after...

See, I have that issue with everything but labs. I love that we actually get to apply what we learn.
Also, whether you realize it now or not, I think you still get that basic information that you'll be able to draw from later when when you take the actual nursing courses. At least, that's what's happened to me in the past when I thought everything had gone in one ear and out the other.
Thanks Breezy. I'm afraid I'm going to get to nursing school not knowing anything they expect me to know...

I'm the same way - I feel like I forget everything after finishing up a course and it especially worries me with my nursing support courses (like microbiology). I'm not in nursing school yet but I'm planning to brush up on some reading before starting, just to refresh my memory. Sometimes I'm surprised what I DO remember... things seem to pop into my head out of nowhere.

I too have this issue. But I'm thankful for the very basic knowledge I will be leaving my pre-reqs with. At least when an instructor brings something up, I can dig into my memory for that "lost" knowledge.

I have felt the same way you do, however, I have found that it is very difficult to know what learning you have retained until you are tested. Frustrating I know, but if you are an A student, this proves that you have learned the majority of the material. To be sure, you can always take practice tests online or in the back of textbooks. Then you can do a little review based on the results of those tests. Good luck to you!

It feels like you forget everything, but that is not true, at least in my case. How do I know that? Ok, I took A&P last year, not long ago, I started reviewing for the TEAS and to my surprise, I still remember all of it, it was very easy to bring it to the surface from that deep storage:). When I was taking A&P, I studied to understand how all these systems work, I did not use the "memorization card" to just pass the tests and that is the reason why I still remember the info. Now, on the other hand, when I was taking the math class, I used the "practice a lot card", the tests were similar to the homework, just need some practice, guess what? I forget about it all after the test is over...just my

Im glad I'm not the only one feeling this way...lol Just last month I completed A&P I with a B+. I cant remember most of the things I studied,I asked my professor how can I retain more information both during class and after it ends, he told me honestly I can never really remember most of what I learned because the human body has so many things going on. That was such a relief for me,because I thought I was doing something wrong. As long as I can understand the human anatomy and all the processes involved,I should be okay :)

You won't remember it all but it'll definitely come back to you when you come across the information again. I took A&P 1 in 2006 but dropped it because i had a heavy course load. I'm taking the class again now and surprisingly, i remembered most of the things i learned! made my first test slightly easier to pass
