  1. Hello Everyone, I'm in desperate need for a clinical preceptor for my adult psych clinical this coming Spring 2017 semester. I had one lined up but was informed very last minute that she is no longer able to. I live in Harrisburg, PA but I am willing to commute to the surrounding areas even up to Philadelphia. I've called other places around here with no response from them or they're unable to accommodate. If you know or can recommend anyone please let me know.
  2. I'm currently in the FACT program and my experience far is not what the rumors are. I had my finances and FAFSA were lined up so i didn't have to deal with any mess. The school did offer me a loan but never disbursed it. I didn't bother to follow up because it's less money i have to pay back. In terms of GPA, i can't really answer that. they do look at your undergrad GPA separately from your cum GPA but they also focus on your pre-req GPA and it is more than your sciences. I believe about 55 credits or so. you actually have to fill out a separate form for that Yes the FACT program is very accelerated and you get a lot of information for 1 year of studies. It comes with the territory, you sink or swim. The program can be disorganized. I don't bother planning for the week, I go day by day because that is how I maintain my sanity with the load of information we get. In the beginning i almost pulled my hair out because i'm a type A personality and you quickly learn that being a type A and the FACT program will not always mesh. But you get used to the pace. I think this goes for any accelerated program. at least of the ones i know. The best thing is to first determine if a 1 year program is what you need and you have to be committed to pass every class per quarter if not you will fail and you cannot continue with the program.
  3. just want to say hi and good luck to you all. i'm a GSU grad. wish i went to nursing school there
  4. hey Kdrose, your inbox is full :-)
  5. Hey Kdrose. i tried to send you a pm but it said your box is full. i'm interested in both items. pls ping me when it is clear for more info
  6. i wish they sent the invite earlier. i'm actually flying into the city tonight to check out apartments this weekend. would have been nice to do both at the same time but i have to conserve money in light of all the expenses when school actually starts.
  7. just saw the invite. i don't think i'll be making it.
  8. thanks Emg2008 for sending the link for the academic calendar. i've been hunting for that link and never found it! for the people relocating, will you be staying on campus or off campus? if off, how is your apt hunting going? it's really getting down to the wire! January is almost gone! time is just flying and before we know it, May is here!!
  9. thanks for the info Sato! i guess i'll hold off getting a new ipad for now. does anyone have an idea or estimate on how much car insurance costs for the city? i'm toying with the idea of bringing my car. i keep hearing that it is very expensive but can't seem to find any rates without contacting insurance companies for estimates.
  10. thanks for the reco Mitch30! @Nishtari i received mine through snail mail along with the official letter of acceptance.
  11. Congrats on getting in Mitch30. I'm still trying to figure out how to access the forms for my Dr to fill out. the website is not very user friendly. for those that are out of state, have you started looking for housing or figured out what area to live? or people who already live in Philly or close by, any reco on places to check out or avoid? will appreciate the info!!!!
  12. congrats bippity!!!! how soon did you find out after the interview :-)
  13. Mine starts with O. i have a gut feeling that they may be looking at how much classes you have left to take too...just a hunch. Also i think they may be letting people know sooner than Jan 1 if they've been accepted. Based on the Pre-licensure thread, someone found out a few weeks after his/her interview.
  14. hey mitch30, i don't know for sure how they are sending out the interview emails but i don't think it's by application receipt date because i submitted my app mid-ish october. i never received the 1st round confirmation letter and had to call them to make sure i was considered in the first round.
  15. I kinda feel your comment. I'm a second career nursing student to be. I have a good job where i can stay and retire but my heart is in healthcare and that's the reason i'm pursuing Nursing. I graduated with a degree in Biology and when i hear people complaining about some pre-reqs sciences being difficult, i have flashbacks to my Organic Chem, Physics, Biochem classes among others and I shudder from the anguish those classes caused me lol!. i say you haven't experience hard unless you have taken some of these courses (speaking for bio majors only)
