Have to quit to care for parents

Recently experienced a devastating famimy crisis with parent. Most likely will have to resign from my job as ADON at a surgery center, I'm beyond sad, disappointed, as well as scared due to no income. I've looked for a remote work from home jobs but it doesn't look promising. Just looking for some advice or words of wisdom.

I am sorry to hear of your situation. Went through the same thing several years ago and went to part time per diem for around a year until my mother passed. Then back to full time. Are you caring for 1 parent? Two? Are there amy siblings to help?

I went through the same thing 8 years ago. I went per diem , working only one day per week until I located a personal care home for my mom. There was no one to take care of my while I took care of her and as much as I was the best caregiver option for her (only daughter and happens to be an acute care nurse), the care home was my only option after she got kicked out of the nursing home for being so mean. The personal care home is a homelike environment in appearance and has worked out extremely well. She has her own room and handicapped bathroom with walk-in shower. As much as I hated it initially, it has been a lifesaver for us both.

I think your mom and mine were quite similar. Mine got kicked out of assted living when she attacked someone with her walker.

Are there no other family members that could help with care?

Does your family member have insurance for placement?

I'm sure your loved  one does not want to see you lose your job. Consider FMLA. 13 weeks could help.

No other family members that live nearby, plus, "hey you're a nurse, you can do it!” Will be various them both although my dad isn't that heavy. I only work PT so I think I can get fmla. No insurance for placement, just Medicare. Where we live the long term care facilities are atrocious I wouldn't trust them with my dog. Plus she has her heart set on coming home. I was hoping to get a remote job from home but that's not panning out.
