Hey Guys,

Have any of you just taken NLN exam this January 2013 for Kingsborough Community college? How did you guys do?

I am freaking nervous now. Cannot fall asleep at night, lol

I know there are a few ppl got 150. Do you guys have any idea that what the average composite score is to get in?

@LadyD .. Not so worried about the accredidation anymore they are working to get it back, I also contacted the rn-bsn program I am interested in and they said it was not a problem. I also have many years experience in the medical field so I know that will help me look a little better even without graduating from an nln accredited school. The fact that many new nurses cannot find jobs isnt due to lack of accredidation from the school they went to, but lack of experience in the field. I worked with many new nurses, one nurse I've work with had two bachelors and received her bachelors in nursing from NYU and couldn't get into the hospital because she never had experience in the field. These days it's all about who you know and not what you know, it's sad but true.

@nursingstudentjess yes but who will hire a person from a nonaccredidated school? We can't work for the state, prisons, schools and even the veteran hospitals. Yes, the idea is to go,on and get a bachelors but what about inmthe interim? Some of us have to work. About them working on getting it back it will take at least two years after we leave

If your worried about it you can always transfer, I looked into transferring but I am not trying to waste anymore time doing pre-reqs. I'm pretty sure in the end ill be ok, the rn-bsn program I looked into is accredited and I will get my NLN accredidation from them. I understand everyone needs to work I've worked full time during doing all my pre-reqs and plan on working while in the program if I get in. But I can surely tell you from my experience from what I have seen that a nurse that has experience and graduated without NLN accredidation is more likely to be hired than a nurse with no medical experience and NLN accredidation on their degree, people may disagree with me on this but like i said its from my own experience. And nowadays many employers prefer to hire nurses with BSN degrees especially hospitals, so eventually we would have to go back for it anyway. That's my outlook on it you may disagree, but bottom line if your feeling uneasy look into different programs I looked into city tech, csi, and some private schools.

I know that experience plays a key role in getting hired. What is considered experience? Any job in the medical field? If you don't mind me asking, what are you currently doing at your job? I recently finished my CNA/PCT courses and will be taking my certification exams shortly. Will being a CNA/PCT play a crucial role of me getting hired in the future?

I think being a CNA will definitely help., any hands on experience is excellent. I currently work in an Ambulatory Surgery center, assisting doctors in endoscopies, colonoscopies and other therapeutic GI related procedures. I also do patient intake for consults (health history, vitals ect) which is good because it helps me to learn meds, I am also trained to wash and disenfect scopes and other stuff used for procedures. I've worked in pediatrics in the past. But mainly for 6yrs I've been in the GI field and once I get my license I hope to continue in it.

Has anyone checked their cunfirst account? I just checked mine and it said that my major is nursing AAS. Good luck to rest of you!!!

Mine changed too!!! Does that mean we are in?!?!

I hope so!! Why else would it change?

Gosh I hope so, that must mean letters go out this week!

Registrar has not received a list from nursing yet. Aren't they they ones to change a major???

I don't know on who is responsible for changing majors. Yours haven't changed on cuny first?

Yes that's what I mean its a registrar that can change majors. Therefore, if they have not yet received the ok from nursing then how can anyone's have changed??
