Hello everybody!
I have been an LPN for a year now starting out working at a doctor's office for half a year and currently shift supervisor at an assisted living facility. I have an interview for Resident Services Director position at an assisted living facility this coming Thursday. I am scared to death b/c first of all, I never expected them to call back seeing that I have only been a nurse for a year and this position would put me second in command for the entire building.
I want to advance my career and definitely seems like it would if I got the position. I guess I am just nervous because I feel as though I am underqualified, but they must have liked something about me from my cover letter and resume if they want me to come in for an interview right?!?
From doing my research, it seems like a pretty small facility and the only qualifications in the ad were you had to be an LPN or RN and assisted living experience preferred.
Anybody that works in a position such as this or just have any advice for me I would appreciate it :redbeathe

When I was just 4 months out of nursing school I took a chance and applied for a job in a management type position at an ICF/MR and it was the best move I ever made. Sure it took me a while to learn the ropes, but you will learn quickly and it will be a great experience for you. After all, that is what nursing is all about. Learning and growing. Be confident and strong! Good luck!

There's definitely no harm in going to the interview and finding out what exactly the duties are. You may surprise yourself! Naturally, you'll want to ask lots of questions about the duties; also be very specific about what you already have experience doing and ask how extensive the training/orientation will be, especially for duties for which you may not be familiar. After all, the purpose of an interview is for both the employer AND potential employee to determine if it's a fit. Keep us posted!
