Have you ever tried to change a policy?

Published

Our lice policy is from 1997. We sent home for live lice, check them again when they return. I am also to check all classes they are in ? this can be an entire grade!
This policy is so outdated. It’s not a school issue. It’s a home environment issue. It’s the same kids/families over and over and they end up missing so much school.
I brought up my concerns to my nurse leader and her director 2 years ago and was told admin wants to keep this policy. I don’t want to step on toes but this is BS.
Is it a lost cause to even try if admin wants to keep it? Would the BOE be the next step?

One more thing…students first day is Thursday. We have absolutely NO directions on Covid. I have NO idea what we are doing. Who we are isolating or quarantining. But our lice policy was in the slide show for the staff meeting today! ?? I’m so glad they have their priorities in order….

I posted this in the Camp Nurse section this Summer, but it seems appropriate to your situation.
