This may be a stupid question but i re-applied today at pearsonvue.com (NCLEX-RN in IL) and had to answer this question: Have you ever taken an NCLEX exam to qualify for the same license? I answered "no" but dont exactly understand what they're asking. Can someone please explain? Thanks so much!

Well...its been a very long time since I sat for boards however just reading the question I would think it is asking if you've ever sat for the NCLEX prior to sitting for it again....in other words it is asking if this is your first time taking the exam for this particular license or if this is a repeat attempt.
I am not sure if answering wrong will have any impact.

answer is yes.
this is a retake so you took an nclex exam to qualify for the SAME license.
on the next question i believe the answer is NO, since it asks for Different license.

Also, some states allow an inactive RN to qualify for licensure by re-taking and passing NCLEX as an alternative to a refresher course.
Thank you so much for your help!
