Have you applied for a job yet?--May 04 Grads

I have applied to work at two hospitals. Just wondering of the May grads out there:

1) have you started applying yet?

2) how many places are you applying?

3) when do you expect to get your job?

4) are you freaking out about the whole process like I am?

Any other stories about your job hunt, or what your school is telling you about the best way to apply...please share!

I have this neurotic feeling that everyone in my class will have a job in the next month and I'll still be waiting for an offer. I know I'm not the only one out there!

I have not applied. I am freaking out. I want to work in the NICU and am praying that I get a job there. I am doing a practicum in April in an NICU, I work with a preceptor the same hours as he/she works. This is for a min. of 108 hours. I hope this will give me an "in". Good luck on the job hunt.

Specializes in Oncology RN.

I've not applied yet, but I have to have my resume in by the end of February at the hospital I work at for GN positions. It seems early to me, and I'm paranoid of jinxing myself.

I'm putting in for ER, then tele as my second choice. My nurse manager has already told me that she is going to help grease the wheels as there is no opening on her floor.

Still, the thought that all this ends in the matter of months, and I will be a Registered Nurse. The more I think about it, the more it freaks me out. For the past 10 years, I have worked under an RN, and have had the luxury of deferring ultimate responsibility to her. Now, I will be that RN, and I will be responsible. Talk about a transition shock!!!

Good luck all...lets keep each other posted on our job situation.

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

no, no job yet.

although i am praying i make it through to graduate in may, i am excited to start doing my preceptorship in the icu starting this weekend.

prayerfully, the manger will noticed that "spark" and determination as well as the understanding of the small amount of learning i have aquired thus far along with my eargerness to learn more, to work this specialty and ask me to work for them after graduation.

i am soo excited!

I just finished nursing school in Dec (03). I had a 3 job offers before I was done. One in the NICU, one in ICU, and one L&D (all at differebt hospitals). It never hurts to go on interviews. You may find in different hospitals have different regulations. In NJ you can not work as a graduate nurse. So, many of my few students started as nurse aide/techs. The job I took is as a nurse intern this way I will be able to do everything an licensed nurse can do. I will just be supervised. I am still waiting to take the boards. I expect to hear from the in the next week or so. Since a few of my friends have just heard from them in the last day or two. I accepted a job in a children's hospital in the NICU. I start in less than 2 weeks. I can't wait!
