Have anyone applied for Cochran RN School?

Hi,

I talk to someone in the admission office and they said all you need is a 2.0 to get in. However you have to complete all the prereqs they require. Which is about 7 or 8 classes. But they wouldn't give me a price on the phone. Are they one of those $20,000 a year schools. Becuase if not, I wouldn't mind going there. Its a two year program.

Hi,

I applied to the Cochran School of Nursing. I don't even think the school is $20,000. I think it is more like $12,000 for the whole program or maybe $15,000 at the most. I did not go there because I got into a BSN program. I did get accepted to Cochran. They have a 1 yr accelerated program if you complete the required pre reqs. You have to take the NET test and pass with I believe a 50 or better. It is really easy to get to. I hear it is a really good school and the NCLEX pass rate is really high. I would recommend that you try to get in but you have to apply early. Even if you don't have all of the pre reqs you still can apply. All you need to apply is HS bio, chemistry and algebra and have taken A&P I and II. The other required classes you can take in conjunction with your nursing classes. I hope I answered all of your questions. If you have any more questions just ask.

Good Luck.

Thanks,

I didn't know that, I'm going to go down there Monday. I'm thinking that since you mention they have a Accelerated program, I wouldn't mind attending that school. Now I wondering why I don't hear about anyone trying to get in that school. I know its hard to get in the two year program at Long Island College Hospital. And that program cost at least $20,000. Anyway I'll take it if I can get in. Thanks again.

I am a graduate of Cochran. They have an excellent program and it doesn't amount to $20,000.00. The accelerated program is called "Fast Track". It 's for students who have a high GPA and/ or LPN's going into the program. The school is hospital based so it has a lot of clinicals and the NCLEX pass rate is > 95%.

hi, i'm a new grad from cochran. the accelerated program is 3 semesters and 1 summer (2 courses in four months -- which is selective and competitive); it's not really one year. the passing score is 78% or C+ . it is not easy, believe me. senior year is a "hurdle." good luck!

amoymak is right -- they call it "fast track"

Thanks you much for the inside scoop of Cochran. I won't be able to take chemistry until the fall. So the told me if there is room you can still join in the spring semester. Does anyone know what is the GPA to be accepted for the fast tract.

thomas

you can't apply for fast track unless you're done with fundamentals of nursing and basic med-surg. if your average for these two courses is A, you have a great chance of getting into the program. if not, you still have a chance -- it depends upon the situation; you may be put on the waiting list. talk to your adviser about your intention as early as possible. if you decide to go to cochran, you're on the right track. choose the day program -- clinical is more extensive, but, you will not regret it. be prepared, though. they may, as you said, take only 2.0 GPA; but as you begin the program, that's when they start the "filter." their unit exams are not easy, and C+ or 78% is the passing grade. hope this helps.

Hi, this school sounds interesting and I have not heard of it. Would you be so kind as to pass on the info. on the school such as website, address, telephone etc. would greatly appreciate it. Is it to late to apply? It is the end of May. Thanks
