Has any one attended Keiser Univer.

I'm thinking of attending Keiser, but hesitant. Any advice?

Many community colleges have scholarships available that make nursing school free. My wife and I are about to finish from our local community college with zero student loans due to scholarships, they even covered books. Do your homework before you sign onto a huge financial debt such as the potential with Keiser.

Im signed up for Keiser Career College to start in 2 weeks.... WHere did you find these scholarships??? R they only for RNs or LPNs too??? thanks!

I was told by Keiser Orlando that there is a 2 year waiting list. What is that all about? Has any one else seeked information on any medical programs, and have been told there's a 2 year list?

HI MAMAWOLF,

I start in August 2009 and I just wanted to know if all the books that are on the list do you really need them all? I am also starting at Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks

I am starting at Keiser in West PAlm Beach next week. I had to take the wonderlic and the TEAS as well as have an interview. I did very well on everything so I am starting my pre reqs and have a spot Jan 2011 for core. I will also add that despite other posts, Keiser is fully accredited and not "looked down on". I will have about $30K in student loan when I finish but I am ok with that. Everyone has the right to chose for themselves and if you would rather pay more and not sit on a wait list then that is your choice. I think people have the misconception that these private universities just accept anyone, I assure you they do not. They have high standards. You need to score high on the Wonderlic, well above national avg on the TEAS (higher than at my local cc) you only get 2 chances on the TEAS or you have to wait an entire year to retake it . You need a 3.0 or higher in all pre reqs to even be considered. It is in the college's best interest to take only highly qualified applicants because they want good NCLEX pass rates. Its their reputation. That being said, check out the particular campus you are looking at because with all schools, quality varies. I am very satisfied with my choice so far but if anything changes, I will update.

Congrats Theresa!

I will be starting the core in the fall (August) at Keiser and I'm so excited! I will be attending the WPB campus as well! I actually was in Nursing school in NY when something happened down in FL with my family and I had to move back to my home state. I remember that the administration in my old school in NY was very disorganized and not always knowledgable. I have found that Keiser's program is very organized (once you get past all the salesmen in 'admissions' - hey, everyone's gotta make a living.)

My b/f is taking classes at the PSL campus and loves it! He's doing Rad Tech so its very different than the nursing program. He has about 16 students in his core class and it really allows for a great learning environment. I think that will be a great advantage when the nursing core begins.

Theresa, are you taking all your prereq's at Keiser as well? I have a bachelors degree already from FSU in Exercise Physiology so I've completed everything and will just start up in the core. Have you taken the TEAS?

Good luck with everything!!

yes, I have all the prereqs to do so you will be about 6 months ahead of me. I start core Jan 2011. I actually had orientation last night, the speech was very inspiring.

very very true.

I do not come from a rich family, so I have always qualified for FA. when I started BCC back in 2005, I did not pay a dime for school. :)

In addition, at the community college where I attended, they had scholarships from hospitals that paid for your school, they gave you a $6K check, plus a sign on bonus of $5K just to work at their hospitals for two years.

no loans, and all my money I make as an RN goes to me :) not a loan company.

I think that's worth spending a year or two on a waiting list :twocents: just my opinion that's all.
