Has anyone transferred their license to Texas?

I'm wondering what all is involved in doing that and roughly how long it takes?

I 'transferred' my LVN license into Texas back in 2006 and my RN license into Texas in 2010. During both periods, the process of endorsing my licensure into Texas took about 5 to 6 weeks.

You will need to visit the Texas Board of Nursing website and click on the link to see what is involved in obtaining a Texas nursing license by endorsement. The steps are all clearly spelled out on the Texas Board of Nursing website.

I did mine 8 years ago and the temp license they issued was for 30 days and they took longer than 30 days to get my real one even though I had submitted everything properly. I spent hours on the phone and almost couldn't wwork at my new job because my temp ran out.......

How long did it take for them to issue the temp license?

Well after many phone calls and Fed ex and desperate pleas they got it done the day my temp permit expired. Then it still took a while before I got it....

In both of my endorsement processes (2006 and 2010), the Texas BON issued the temporary license within ten days of receiving my application and fees. During both times, my temporary license had been valid for 120 days (4 months).

I just transferred my license this past summer and had the same experience as TheCommuter, temp. license within 10 days that was good for 120 days. Once I completed the nursing Jurisprudence exam, I received my permanent license within 10 days. I was scared to take the exam, but I took the course they offer through the website and took the exam right after and it was pretty easy.

After you submitted all your items for endorsement did you status on the BON site say submitted for permanent license?

In my case, no. Instead, I just kept checking the online license verification system once per week until I finally saw my name and permanent nursing licensure number issued.

Thanks , TheCommuter.

I just called and asked how long it will take and one per stated 5 business days and the other stated she was not sure but it could be the 15 days that usually state for most items. I pray for the 5 cause I need to go back to work, lol
