Has anyone taken Excelsior Health Safety?

Published

SO... :yes:Now that I have passed the Microbiology exam, my next adventure is Health Safety! I read over the content guide and I feel like a lot of this is used everyday as an LPN. Of course some of it like legal implications and cultural considerations I will have to review since I don't really deal with that often, but most of it reminds me the LPN NCLEX and normal nursing situations (Communication, nursing care plans). Please, if anyone has taken it could you give me idea of how difficult or easy it is. No matter what I am getting those practice exams and Im going to go through the content guide thoroughly! I want to take this test within 3 weeks. Is that doable? I don't want to go into this with a "its easy" attitude and FAIL miserably:no:. Thanks!!

The forum has a search function that might also help.

My advice: take the EC practice exams! Good luck. :)

Geeze! For sure I will be buying those practice exams! By just reading the content guide it doesn't seem awful, but I could totally see questions on the test having multiple "right" answers and having to rack your brain to choose the "best" answer lol. Thanks!

Don't underestimate Health Safety test. I thought I knew this content towards and backwards. I made a C and was happy. I thought I failed it. Definitely take the practice exams. I had several questions on the test taken from the practice exams. Three weeks is plenty of time to study.

I didn't find this exam too difficult. The content is a bit 'dry'. If you have been in medicine/healthcare for a while, it won't be too hard but like most exams they ask some things that you would only know if you study. It does have some technical questions so you need to read over the material and take the practice exams. I had a number of pediatric questions. I used Study Group 101, studied for about 1 day and got a B. If I had studied longer, an A would definitely have been possible. If you focus on the topics that are covered in the content guide and on the practice exam, that will help.

I did the sample questions that come with the content guide and missed 3. Which I didn't think was too bad. I've only been an LPN for a year. I am waiting for my books to arrive so I can take the practice exams and get this one over with.I tried study group 101 for micro and I felt like it was just a bunch of dry information packed together and i couldnt focus. I may try it again for this class depending on how the text books are. Thanks for the advice!

I felt the 1st four exams were really straight forward and easy. Just a bunch of memorizing things versus understanding cocnepts. A lot of it should still be in your brain from school

I took the exam and made a B! Thank goodness for practice exams:yes:. Thanks for all the advice.

Planning on taking Health Safety next, I took transition first.
