okay, i work in an area where there are only fmc hdus. has anyone ever seen a pts involuntarily discharged? what were the circumstances?

You are correct. I should probably use universal healthcare instead of socialized medicine. This is a huge debate in the US at the moment and one which we probably need to move to its own thread but suffice it to say, there are pros and cons on both sides of the coin.
