Has anyone heard of Lakeview College of Nursing?

Published

Yes, I am graduating from Lakeview in May.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Hemodialysis.

I've heard some great things about Lakeview.

It has improved a lot over the last 2 years. There is still worked to be done. If you are considering Lakeview, apply for the EIU-Charleston Campus. Danville is a bad place to be. If you have any interest in OB the Lakeview has the most awsome elective. It is called Birth Companions and I highly recommend it.

Aunttae, I just sent you a pm loaded with questions about Lakeview.

We hired 7 new grads in 2007 to work in our hospital.Of the 7-only 2 nurses passed boards on their first try and I was told they were pretty close to losing their accredition.

I am currently a student at Lakeview College in Danville. Danville is a boring town and it seems like there is little to do, but I feel safe. Besides you don't have any time to do anything but study anyway!!

Specializes in CRNA.

I graduated from Lakeview (EIU Charleston campus) December 2006. While there is still some work to be done in terms of organization, I can say that Lakeview prepared me well to be a competent ICU RN...I passed boards on the first try also. There is one instructor there that I still keep in contact with; she wrote some letters of recommendation for me for grad school. BUT...you need to study your butt off....the people that didnt pass boards on the first try from my class were party animals that would rather go out to the campus bars than study. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them!

Hi everyone!

I too was just accepting into Lakeview at EIU. I have never visited there but I am going next week to check it out. I really don't know much about the school and I would like your insights :)

I have heard a lot of nursing students complain that instructors are often unfair and treat the students poorly. Would you say you felt this way at Lakeview?

How many people out of your starting class graduated?

Those are my two direct questions but I would love to hear anything and everything else!

Also, do any of you happen to know anything about the reputation of Mennonite College of Nursing at ISU??

Thanks so much!!

Specializes in SICU/Trauma, CCRN-CMC.

I currently attend Lakeview at the EIU campus and will be graduating in December. As far as the instructors being unfair, I wouldn't go so far as to say that but I have seen certain ppl that they don't feel would be good nurses treated differently. I can't answer the question about the graduating class yet though. What I can say about Lakeview is that you basically have to be ready to teach yourself. Some of the instructors are really great but some of them are good nurses but bad teachers. Foundations and Med/Surg are two of the more difficult classes to get through but if you form study groups with people, you should be fine. HTH!

yep. i am considering attending Lakeview after I finish LPN school. I have heard great things about them. The DON at Lake Land graduated from Lakeview.

Did anyone else rejoice over the email regarding the new curriculum updates for Lakeview? :(
